1 COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR (Full-time, 6 Month Contract) Job Summary Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Public Affairs & LEPC Lead, the Communications Coordinator is responsible for writing, editing, and performing communication duties related to social media, labour market dissemination, project work, and community engagement and outreach. The Communications Coordinator will be assigned communication work by the Sr. Manager of Public Affairs & LEPC Lead. The Communication Coordinator s outputs can be further guided by the organization s communications plan, which outlines the strategic communication goals, audiences, key messaging, communication methods, social media strategy, the work plan, and evaluation metrics. The Communications Coordinator will act in the best interest of the organization, employ reliably good judgement, meet professional standards in communication, be highly organized, engage thoughtfully through social media, write and edit resources, use communication channels according to the target audience, and be an excellent presenter of complex information. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for: Working with Supervisor and Project Manager to ensure the successful undertaking of all your job duties, responsibilities and work assignments. Working with the Sr. Manager of Public Affairs & LEPC Lead to ensure that the communication plan is being implemented. Page 1 of 5

2 The implementation of the organization s Social Media strategy to drive online audiences to our website where they can access labour market tools, research, guides and information about upcoming events, including: o Professionally attending to and efficiently using social media platforms to schedule content, disseminate labour market information, engage audiences, convey complex information in a straightforward manner and develop a consistent, online voice for the organization. o Create and post shareable content, newsletters, blogs, website posts and videos that supports our project work, while responding online to audience engagement. o Develop, plan, authorize and improve paid promotion strategies on social media platforms working within an approved monthly budget allocation. Supporting the development and editing of reports, guides, videos, marketing and advertising pieces, and training resources. Undertaking a high level of stakeholder engagement and community outreach, including: o Developing a strong working relationship with others by responding to queries, seeking pertinent information and ensuring the completion of all communication work. o Liaising with workers, employers, government officials, service providers, educational institutions, jobseekers, apprentices, students, educators and other community organizations on behalf of the organization. o Attending assigned meetings, presentations and events for the purpose of gathering relevant information, disseminating labour market information, and engaging others in our work. o Providing organizational support to events, including focus groups, consultations, off-site meetings, workforce summit events, etc. o Conducting interviews and writing blogs to support project work and expand our online reach to wider audiences. o Creating vlogs and other video resources to engage the community in our work. 3 Maintaining, using and troubleshooting our Mail Chimp account, including our organizational profile, distribution lists and contacts in accordance with professional and legal standards, such as Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act. Monitoring, tracking and reporting on earned media coverage on behalf of the organization, including media event coverage, stories, and mentions by television, radio and print media outlets. Collecting metrics relating to the website, social media, newsletter, WEjobs, and other communication channels for the purpose of analysing and critically evaluating communication performance. Collecting and storing testimonials and impact stories relating to project work to share with board, management, funders and online through social media and/or website. Coordinating labour market presentations in local schools, including: o Working with educators to schedule labour market presentations to interested classes. o Deliver age-appropriate presentations to students independently. o Schedule other staff to assist in presentation duties during busy periods. o Train new staff in the delivery of the classroom presentations. Coordinating the creation of organizational reports that satisfy the board of directors and management. Representing Workforce WindsorEssex professionally on local committees and working groups, while also sharing local labour market information, results, resources and products to a diverse range of audiences in person, in writing, and through infographics, public displays and social media. Supporting the discovery, development, submission and execution of existing and new grants that align with Workforce WindsorEssex s mission. Performing other duties as required. Page 3 of 5

4 Qualifications & Requirements College or University diploma in a relevant field. Proficient in the use of computers, Microsoft office programs, social media platforms and Mail Chimp. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to create or source creative for use in social media platforms. Attentive to detail and highly organized. French is an asset. Access to reliable transportation to/from work, for off-site meetings and presentations. Remuneration The wage range for Communications Coordinator will be $20 to $26/hour based on experience. A health and dental benefit plan is available to all employees; however, employees pay 100% of the premiums. Workforce WindsorEssex offers a flexible and positive working environment. Learn more at About the Local Employment Planning Council project The Local Employment Planning Council (LEPC) project is funded in part by the Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario. The LEPC pilot aims to increase the access to accurate, up to date, local labour market information and help pioneer new and innovative approaches to local employment planning. October 2018 to March 2019 will be the 3 rd phase of the LEPC project. This contract position is dependent on the funding of this project. Page 5 of 5
