1 Position Description Position Title: Engineering Service Group Manager Status: 1.0 Exempt: Page 1 of 5 Updated 8/27/15 POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: The purpose of the position of Engineering Service Group Manager (ESG Manager) is to execute work generated by the Engineering and Shop departments. The primary functions include: 2.0 Manage engineering shop staff Develop AutoCAD drawings per customer specifications Develop and quote systems to customers Identify appropriate parts for systems Develop engineered solutions to customer needs Perform field service calls when necessary Perform inside sales functions Support outside sales team BASIC FUNCTIONS: 2.1 Assist the Panel Shop in its day-to-day demands including testing of electrical panels from wiring diagrams and AutoCAD drawings. 2.2 Assist in the development of various engineering and electrical software requirements including AutoCAD drawing development. 2.3 Work closely with Engineering and Shop personnel to accomplish field service requirements. 2.4 Develop technical solutions to customer automation requirements. Technical solutions are an essential function of this position including the identification of appropriate parts for optimum electrical panel performance. 2.5 Assist customers with product and system solutions both on the phone and in person.

2 3.0 REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB: 3.1 Education: Required: Associate Engineering Degree Preferred: Electrician technical trade schooling 3.2 Experience: Management background and a minimum of two years experience as an electrical technician or electrician with an electrical supply industry or a similar industry. 3.3 Licenses/Certifications: Valid Virginia Driver s License required 3.4 Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: The ESG Manager must be poised, articulate, self-assured, and personable. This person should have superior communications skills, both written and verbal. Knowledge of the electrical panels and wiring diagrams and associated products is required. In addition, a working knowledge of electrical automation systems and products is essential. Computer skills required include Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, AutoCAD, and a basic knowledge of all computer programs needed to perform the functions within the engineering department. Electrical equipment skills needed include the use of various testing equipment, meters, and o-scope. 3.5 Physical: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Body Positions: Regularly required sitting, standing and walking for prolonged periods of time. Body Movements: The employee must have a full range of body movements including the full use of both hands and fingers, handle, grasp and feel objects, computer equipment and peripherals, and bending, reaching, and crouching. Walking up and down stairs is essential. May be require to move in and out of small control rooms to identify customer solutions. Must be able to get in and out of a motor vehicle several times per day. Body Senses: Must have command of the senses of sight, hearing, touch, and smell. Specific vision abilities required close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust

3 focus. The vision requirements include sufficient ability to shift in focus from the computer screens to close forms and back routinely. Must hear and speak well enough to conduct business over the telephone. Must have full command of all senses needed to operate a motor vehicle. Strength: Lifting, carrying and handling up to 50 pounds are required. Sound judgment should always be used before lifting any object. 3.6 Mental: Must be able to read and write English well enough to read and prepare reports, and communicate effectively with all concerned or related to the business. Must be capable of applying sound business judgment to all decisions. Mathematical abilities at the level required performing complex engineering solutions including trigonometry, percentages, ratios, exponents, and logarithms are required. Must be logical. Must be able to make decisions based on facts and be able to differentiate between fact, fiction, and emotions. 3.7 Success Factors: This position requires personal interaction with employees, customers and vendors. This position requires the ability to perceive the needs of the customers through conversational interaction. The ESG Manager must translate the requests of our customers into solutions. The ESG Manager must be able to make most people feel comfortable in his/her presence and be people and results oriented. This is a dynamic position; it requires and individual who is goal oriented and is committed to the company s products and services. This person must be selfmotivated and goal oriented. 3.8 Working Conditions: Working in an office environment will be required during each workday. When assisting staff in the warehouse, varying temperatures will be encountered. The noise level will vary based upon location. The range is from low (office environment) to high (manufacturer s plant). The requirements of field service may require prolonged exposure to the outdoors and the variety of temperatures and conditions this may bring. There may be travel involved with this position, which includes routine hazards of travel. Regular travel in an automobile is required. Occasional overnight travel may be required, which may consist of several sequential days and flying via commercial airlines.

4 4.0 AUTHORITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY 4.1 Authority: ESG Manager has the authority delegated by the COO to make decisions and take action in order to satisfy the responsibilities, duties, goals, and objectives that have established for this position. 4.2 Accountability The ESG Manager is accountable to the COO for the accomplishment of all goals assigned to the position. This individual is accountable for maintaining the standards of performance for the company as a whole and the ethical and prudent operation of the engineering and shop departments. The ESG Manager reports directly to the COO. 5.0 RESPONSIBILIES AND DUTIES The responsibilities and duties of the ESG Manager consist of, but are not limited to the following: 5.1 Develop drawings and a bill of materials for all shop jobs in accordance with the customers requirements. 5.2 Respond to customer requests for quotes, parts, etc. promptly on or before customer s expectations. 5.3 Communicate with appropriate departmental personnel to ensure all information required to initiate, maintain and complete customer requests is accomplished in a timely and professional manner. 5.4 Assist with field service calls as needed when staff is unavailable. 5.5 Develop AutoCAD drawings as needed. 5.6 Develop effective working relationships with customers and vendors. 5.7 Supervise staff to wire panel components in accordance with supplied drawings. 5.8 Adhere to all quality, safety and corporate policies and procedures of Jo-Kell, Inc. in the performance of this position. 5.9 Perform electrical tests on panels to ensure proper operation when needed.

5 5.10 Oversee and prepare customer quotations for both material and system in writing, responding on or before customer s due date Maintain accurate records of shop hours for employees when working in the panel shop 5.12 Represent Jo-Kell, Inc. in a positive manner, showing a quality attitude through an honest and professional work ethic Perform any and all other functions as needed and/or delegated by the COO.
