There are over 1.2 million stroke survivors in the UK. Almost two thirds have a disability and one third rely on others for help, making stroke one of the biggest causes of disability. We are continually working to improve the lives of stroke survivors and their families who deserve the very best treatment and care. We deliver amazing, life-changing support to over 60,000 stroke survivors and their families each year. We also fund research to find better treatments, campaign for better stroke care and help people understand how to spot and prevent stroke. This work is made possible by more than 4,000 talented volunteers and staff, our fantastic supporters and our strong relationships with the stroke clinical and research community. 2 Together we can conquer stroke. Directorate The Stroke Association is dependent upon voluntary support for over two thirds of its income and our Fundraising Directorate plays a vital role funding our research programmes, campaigns and helpline support and underpins our services supporting stroke survivors. It also covers the core costs of running the Association. Last year we raised 23.4m from individuals, companies, trusts, foundations and community organisations. We believe that there is potential to do so much more and under the leadership of a new CEO and Executive Director of Income Generation we are developing a new strategy for doubling income from voluntary fundraising. This new strategy will focus on long term partnerships and sustained support from key stakeholders. Purpose of role Every Stroke Association role is designed to contribute towards achieving our strategic ambitions. The particular focus of this role is to help us to achieve Ambition 6: Building the foundations for long-term growth. The Head of Volunteer Fundraising role is responsible and accountable for the strategic leadership and management of the approach to drive a step change in volunteer numbers and Stroke group engagement to deliver sustainable net income growth from volunteer activity. The Head of Volunteer Fundraising will lead on the creation, development and delivery of the Regional Fundraising Volunteer Strategy to the Regional Fundraising team, through a matrix management approach to develop plans, budgets, KPI s to deliver a step change in the numbers of volunteers supporting the Regional Fundraising team and volunteer income from fundraising activity. Critical to all of this work is that this role will need to be able to work with Stroke Support, Volunteering and Community Partnerships and most importantly with Head of Volunteering and Community Development to ensure that the Regional Fundraising teams develop integrated plans with all these stakeholders so that there is a coherent strategy across the UK to develop our community volunteering footprint and to maximise the effectiveness of our relationships with Stroke Clubs and Groups and their volunteers.

Developing programmes to recruit, retain and develop supporters ensuring best possible supporter experiences to retain them. 7 Person specification Education Degree or equivalent plus demonstrable professional experience.
