1.1 Quality and credibility of the research/innovation action (level of novelty, appropriate consideration of inter/multidisciplinary and gender aspects) You should develop your proposal according to the following lines: Introduction, state-of-the-art, objectives and overview of the action Research methodology and approach: highlight the type of research / innovation activities proposed Originality and innovative aspects of the research programme: explain the contribution that the action is expected to make to advancements within the action field. Describe any novel concepts, approaches or methods that will be employed. The gender dimension in the research content (if relevant) The interdisciplinary aspects of the action (if relevant) Explain how the high-quality, novel research is the most likely to open up the best career possibilities for the experienced researcher and new collaboration opportunities for the host organisation(s).

1.1 Quality and credibility of the research/innovation action (level of novelty, appropriate consideration of inter/multidisciplinary and gender aspects) Introduction, state-of-the-art, objectives and overview of the action Research methodology and approach Originality and innovative aspects of the research programme Gender dimension Interdisciplinarity Formulate an global aim or goal of your project Fine-tune this through specific objective/aims/research questions Keep the state-of-the-art part focussed on your topic While the project should be original and ambitious, it must still be feasible Graphics and tables can help to summarise and display information Timeliness: why carry out this research now? How will the research contribute to advancements in your field? Describe how your research is novel and goes beyond the state of the art MSCA-IF

1.1 Quality and credibility of the research/innovation action (level of novelty, appropriate consideration of inter/multidisciplinary and gender aspects) Introduction, state-of-the-art, objectives and overview of the action Research methodology and approach Originality and innovative aspects of the research programme Gender dimension Interdisciplinarity Formulate an overarching aim or goal of your project Try to include a training on gender issues as appropriate Finetune this through specific objective/aims/research questions Keep the state-of-the-art part focussed on your topic Regarding The Content of the Action, there are 3 important questions: Does it matter whether test persons are male or female? How do males or females respond to certain things? Does it matter whether scientist is male or female? While the project should be original and ambitious, it must still be feasible Graphics and tables can help to summarise and display information Timeliness: why carry out this research now? How will the research contribute to advancements in your field? Describe how your research is novel and goes beyond the state of the art If no gender topics: add 1 sentence like gender does not apply because. MSCA-IF

What does gender dimension mean? Integrating the gender dimension in research content means taking into account the biological characteristics of both females and males (sex) and the evolving social and cultural features of women and men, girls and boys (gender)

Why is it important to take the gender dimension into account? Integrating the gender dimension in R&I leads to an in-depth understanding of citizens needs, behaviours and attitudes, is an added value in terms of excellence and innovation Thus, it enhances the societal relevance of the knowledge, technologies and innovations produced and contributes to the production of goods and services better suited to potential markets.

Why is it important to take the gender dimension into account? Being blind to potential differences of sex and gender may result in missed opportunities, with certain groups of people being left out, poorly accommodated etc. Hello? Designing to stereotypes may result in unpopular products.

Further information on the gender dimension in R&I content For further information, you can consult the website of Gendered Innovations, a peer-reviewed project supported by the European Commission: On this website, you can also find a short videos on various aspects of "Gendered Innovations: Harnessing the Creative Power of Gender Analysis for Discovery and Design" ( ) 51

Open Access Open Science H2020 Applicants and beneficiaries should respect the Horizon 2020 strategic priority of Open Science. Open Science is an inclusive process aimed at promoting diversity in science across the European Union and opening it to the general public, in order to better address the H2020 societal challenges and ensure that science becomes more responsive both to socio-economic demands and to those of European citizens. Open Science also provides significant new opportunities for researchers to disseminate, share, explore and collaborate with other researchers.

2.3. Quality of the proposed measures to communicate the action activities to different target audiences Please make also reference to the guidelines Communicating EU research and innovation guidance for project participants as well as to the "communication" section of the H2020 Online Manual. Concrete planning for section 2.3 must be included in the Gantt Chart (see point 3.1). 0-guide-comm_en.pdf The following section of the European Charter for Researchers refers specifically to public engagement: Public engagement Researchers should ensure that their research activities are made known to society at large in such a way that they can be understood by nonspecialists, thereby improving the public's understanding of science. 85 Outreach versus Communication Outreach Activities aimed at reaching a big audience (presentations at schools, seminars, visits to labs ).. Objective: inform the general public of the benefits / results of the research carried out. Language used has to be accesible to the public.
