1 Teaching Excellence Alliance Administrator (TEA Administrator) We are offering an exciting opportunity for an administrator to develop a new multiinstitutional partnership building on the distinctive excellence of University Alliance education. We have worked hard over recent years to become well-respected advisers to policy decision-makers and a constructive force in the Higher Education sector. Building on this, we are developing collaborative programmes working across our member universities including the Teaching Excellence Alliance (TEA). University Alliance members share a progressive approach to education which co-creates curricula with employers and students and actively supports every student to succeed. The TEA works with these shared values to enhance how effectively UA universities can further develop their programmes and student experience. The TEA Administrator will be responsible for providing administrative support for all aspects of the TEA, including the activities recently agreed in outline by the Management Group and now being implemented. Based in our office just off Pall Mall near the heart of government, you will need to embrace and thrive in a challenging and busy environment, and apply these skills to projects you support. 2 Job description Job title: Teaching Excellence Alliance Administrator (TEA Administrator) Terms and conditions of employment: This is a part-time (0.6 FTE) position (3 days per week) on a fixed-term basis for 18 months. University Alliance staff benefit from generous terms and conditions including 33 days leave (made up of 25 days annual leave and 7 concessionary days in addition to bank holidays) pro rata, flexible working practices, a generous pension scheme and a commitment to investing in and developing staff. Principal location of work: University Alliance HQ, Central London Immediate line manager: TEA Programmes Manager Probation period: 6 months Annual salary: (pro rata) Overall purpose of post: To support the TEA Programmes Manager in the coordination of operations and the day-to-day oversight administration of all TEA activities. These activities span the support of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) across member universities, the formation, development and administration of a membership-based Peer Review College (PRC) and meetings of groups of university staff running the TEA. Main responsibilities include: Administrative support for TEA Management and Implementation governance meetings (requires travel); TEA online community network administration Primary point of contact for Peer Review College members; verifying the status of applicants to join the Peer Review College; provide administrative support to tasks and projects carried out by PRC members and teams Provide events support for members of the PRC to support activities using Basecamp, Mailchimp, LinkedIn and other systems as required Organise TEA and PRC events including taking bookings, providing information to attendees, organising catering, liaising with venues Operate a central advertisement and booking service for CPD offers including liaising with university training leads; support member institutions in the organization of events shared with the TEA Assist the TEA Programmes manager in the preparation and distribution of 2

3 regular e-newsletters Providing flexible support in a small organisation including: Support for new TEA programme activities as appropriate Respond positively to change in a fast-paced environment, including reprioritisation and re-direction of projects Provide any additional support for communications and events as relevant 3

4 Required experience / skills Specification Essential 1. Education/ Training 2. Relevant Experience working in an administrative role using effective time and task management skills, demonstrating an ability to deal calmly with the varied and conflicting demands involved with a new initiative Experienced in providing responses on issues raised by a wide range of contacts. Experience of keeping accurate records, using databases and spreadsheets, keeping minutes and being an efficient organiser of meetings. Able to work effectively to support several activities running concurrently A flexible and supportive approach to working within a small team to deliver shared objectives A demonstrable grasp of detail Ability to learn and use a variety of software systems Ability to communicate clearly in person and in writing Good interpersonal skills and an ability to respond positively to a range of people Able to work on own initiative without close supervision to deliver agreed priorities and tasks, exercising Skills/ Aptitudes High standard of academic qualification to degree level, or equivalent experience.
