1 Job Description Job title Location Hours Service Delivery Manager Sheffield Full time (37.5 hours per week) Reports to Staff responsible For Director of Design and Innovation Service Designer/s Date February 2017 Salary Benefits Job Purpose Salary: 32,000 to 38,267 depending on experience. All employees with contracts of six months or more are invited to be a Member of the Good Things Foundation Staff led Mutual. This gives you voting rights for Staff Board Directors and at the AGM (Annual General Meeting) 30 days holiday per year 10% Employer contribution to a personal stakeholder pension scheme (when you contribute 5%) Up to 500 contribution for work related training (or 200 for personal development and 300 for work related training) You ll lead delivery as part of Good Things Foundation s Design and Innovation team, using both agile and waterfall project management methodologies as appropriate. You ll make innovative new projects happen, coordinating colleagues, stakeholders and delivery partners. You ll keep track of people, processes and the paperwork. You ll work closely with service designers to develop new solutions to some of society s most complex problems, dealing with issues such as isolation, homelessness, disability and mental health. You ll identify blockers to delivery and service failures, building in feedback mechanisms to iterate within projects. You ll keep the

2 project team on track, making sure they focus on the most important priorities and their time on the right things. You ll work on the ground with the Online Centres Network and other partners, making sure delivery fits with their needs and priorities. You ll communicate project purpose and progress to a range of stakeholders, making sure everyone has a realistic idea of where we re at at any given time. You might be asked to support and line manage junior colleagues to get the most out of them and their work, helping them to develop professionally and deliver work of an exceptional standard. Key Objectives and Accountabilities Delivery Lead the delivery of pilot services within the Design and Innovation Directorate Employ both agile and Prince2 methodologies, being confident in choosing the right tool for the job Deliver pilots to agreed timescales and quality, making sure projects deliver the insights and outcomes they set out to achieve Manage a range of local and national delivery partners, making sure they re engaged and aligned with projects Identify changes that quickly transform the quality of a service, taking quick, confident decisions to move things forward Deliver multiple projects at the same time Team Working Coordinate a service design team around various projects, helping them to communicate, manage their time and make sure they re focused on what s most important at any given time Promote lean principles, making use of techniques such as rapid prototyping and making sure hypotheses are tested in a quick, robust way Introduce processes and tools to support team working as and when appropriate Act as a problem solver for blockers to delivery, working with colleagues to move things forward Communicate Communicate project progress to colleagues and partners in a range of ways including, written, illustrated, verbal and digital Build and sustain Good Things Foundation s capability to design, test and scale different

3 initiatives, sharing a range of analytical and design skills Be open and honest about challenges, and the actions required to address unexpected developments Develop Good Things Foundation s public profile as an organisation carrying out groundbreaking work to tackle social problems Staff management Empower the staff you line manage to maximise their contribution by setting clear objectives, providing appropriate feedback, holding at least monthly one to one meetings, sensitively and effectively managing performance, ensuring they get the training and development they need and that they feel valued Support staff to be flexible and work within and across teams, to be entrepreneurial and innovative Partnership working Work with and through partners, contractors, freelance and fixed term staff and the network as required to ensure Good Things Foundation has access to a flexible pool of skills and resources to delivers its objectives Seek out new strategic partners and relationships to help us deliver projects and achieve our goals Budget management Ensure the most effective use of Good Things Foundation s resources and that all finances are properly accounted for by producing realistic and up to date budgets, being aware of all income and expenditure accounts delegated to you and ensure all proper records are kept and processes adhered to as required by Finance Corporate responsibility Ensure that your work and that of the team is always in the bests interests of Good Things Foundation and the Network; support others across the organisation to deliver their objectives when needed and be proactive in identifying and addressing opportunities and threats to the whole organisation Contribute to corporate business planning, reporting and take on cross cutting tasks as required Accountability Be accountable for your work to the Good Things Foundation Board, the wider staff team, funders and the network Person Specification Experience Essential

4 At least three years experience in a delivery role managing a range of projects Demonstrable experience using a range of project delivery methodologies, including agile and Prince2 Experience managing complex budgets across different projects Proven experience in running lean projects Demonstrable success in innovating within existing services A track record of making difficult decisions to remove blockers and keep delivery on track Experience running projects that work within existing services Experience of successfully delivering projects that involve a range of demanding partners or stakeholders Experience coordinating a team around complex delivery projects Desireable Experience working with experimental projects and pilots Experience of line managing colleagues Knowledge and Skills Essential Familiarity with a range of agile and waterfall methodologies Ability to assess and explain the benefits of working in different ways for different outcomes Desireable Agile training and Prince2 Good Things Foundation Behaviours We are collaborative We are positive We are creative We are people focussed
