3 ABOUT THE INTERNSHI We are seeking a driven and enthusiastic volunteer intern who is will help in supporting the development of World Cancer Research Fund s fundraising department and gain insight into a verity of Fundraising activities. Who you will be volunteering with: You will be volunteering with World Cancer Research Fund s fundraising team who work hard to raise funds for our vital cancer prevention research and health information programmes. They fundraise from the following avenues: Corporate Events Community Memorials Trusts Individual & Legacy giving World Cancer Research Fund s Fundraising Department What we are looking for: Someone with enthusiasm, looking for their first exposure to the charity sector Someone who is organised, and able to prioritise Excellent communications skills to produce high quality work and build effective relationships with internal and external contacts Able to work independently as well as being a reliable and conscientious team member Good command of IT applications and databases roactive approach and good negotiator A willingness to learn 3

4 JOB DESCRITION Job title Department Reporting to Responsible for Internship Length Location Travel expenses Fundraising Volunteer Intern Fundraising Events Fundraising Manager N/A 3 months, 2 3 days a week 22 Bedford Square, London WCB 3HH This is a voluntary role but contributions to lunch and travel expenses of up 0.00 per day will be reimbursed Main purpose of the Internship The volunteer intern will work alongside the Fundraising Assistant to support the development of World Cancer Research Fund s fundraising programmes, working within budgets to maximise income targets. In the financial year 205/6 the year of our 25 th Birthday, we want to increase our income from community fundraising by over 200%, and our events programmes will be growing too. You will pay a key part in supporting us to do this, as well as bringing our work to life for these supporters, and showing them the difference that their support makes. There will also be the opportunity to volunteer alongside and learn about other programmes including legacy fundraising, trusts fundraising and corporate fundraising. The volunteer intern will be supervised by the Events Manager, but will work closely with the Fundraising Assistant on a daily basis. The role also works closely with other fundraising colleagues and other departments when required to support World Cancer Research Fund s programmes. Main duties and responsibilities A 2 B 2 3 C D Community Research community groups and potential fundraising opportunities, and work with the Events Fundraising Manager to develop approaches to this audience. Build meaningful relationships with community fundraisers and be involved in all aspects of supporter care, from creating personalised verbal and written communications to maintaining up-todate database records. Events Support Team Cancer revention our team of runners, cyclists and trekkers across all active events - to maximise their fundraising potential by giving them all the support and encouragement needed to achieve their personal goals. Attend cheer points at weekend events throughout the period, supporting with recruitment of on the day volunteers. Assist with the organisation of our Yorkshire Three eaks challenge event that involves participant recruitment, stewardship, pre-event logistics and follow-up. Support the Fundraising Assistant to develop our successful skydiving programme, including contacting prospective jumpers, and supporting with the administration relating to this programme. Corporates & Trusts Support the work of both the Corporate Development Manager and Trust Development Manager by undertaking initial research to identify potential Corporates and Trusts and Foundations to support our Science and Health Information activities. General When necessary, support any other tasks relevant within the fundraising team and across departments within the organisation. 4
