1 ASSET ENGINEER POSITION DESCRIPTION Position Title: Responsible To: Council Program: Asset Engineer Team Leader, Asset Information Services Infrastructure Classification Level: 5 Overview of Program The Infrastructure Management Program will ensure that Council s assets effectively deliver multiple place outcomes. Key Relationships / Interactions Internal External Staff members across the Infrastructure Program Adelaide City Council (ACC) staff members across all Portfolios and Programs Other Councils Consultants Industry Experts

2 Primary Purpose Responsibilities As part of the Asset Information Services the Asset Engineer will; Actively participate and assist in delivery of maintenance management systems; Assist with the undertaking of asset condition and compliance audits and the effective management of information; Undertake detailed analysis of asset related information (including spatial) and provide advice/reports to support a variety of essential business functions e.g. make recommendations in relation to renewal and maintenance planning; Assist other ACC staff in accessing and understanding asset systems and information; Assist with the development of asset management plans for all asset classes; Assist with the development and preparation of policies and strategies relevant to asset management; and Assist with valuation of infrastructure and property asset. The Asset Engineer is responsible for; Assisting the delivery of maintenance management systems; Producing data analysis reports using various systems; Supporting all technical areas of the program as required; Assisting with condition and compliance audits, the maintenance of information and undertaking of detailed analysis; Undertaking analysis and making recommendations on asset renewal and maintenance to Infrastructure program; Assisting with the development and implementation of service standards, service levels and maintenance standards for reactive and proactive works; Assist with the creation of reports and information for the executive and Council as required; Data updates and maintenance as required to corporate systems; Supporting the application of and demonstrably engaging in the ACC s Equal Employment Opportunity, cultural diversity and ethical practice policies; Taking reasonable care to ensure their own safety and not placing others at risk by any act or omission; Attending WHS training and following instructions and advice provided; Complying with the requirements of the ACC WHS management system; Using and caring for equipment, including personal protective equipment, as instructed; Not intentionally or recklessly interfering with or misusing workplace equipment and supplies in a manner that could adversely affect health, safety or welfare in the workplace; and Any other tasks as required by the Team Leader Asset Information Services. 4 Selection Criteria Candidates should ensure that their application clearly demonstrates their ability to meet the Criteria detailed below. Qualifications Financial Skills & Acumen Technical Knowledge & Experience A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or related field and/or commensurate demonstrated experience in lieu of formal qualifications. Ability to read and understand standard financial reporting including budgeting and ledger transaction lists. Demonstrated experience in the use of corporate asset systems, financial systems and workflow management. Competence in interpreting technical information and giving direction based on this. Knowledge of asset management requirements. Desirable Project Management Understanding of project management principles and their application. Desirable Innovation & Initiative Resource Management & Decision Making Professional Development Customer Commitment & Integrity Collaboration & Communication Administrative Skills Preparedness to challenge existing practices and programs in order to drive service improvement and program delivery. Proven ability to build positive relationships and consult, negotiate and communicate with all levels of management and staff, government agencies, stakeholders and the community, both verbally and in writing. The ability to build and maintain cross program relationships for strategy and policy development. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a range of audiences.
