Salary: Grade B per hour (Holidays will be paid pro rata on a termly basis) Appointment Date: March 2017 The John Bentley School is a forward thinking co-educational Academy with circa 1,000 students on roll and a highly committed and enthusiastic staff team. Situated in a beautiful location, the school is within commuting distance of Bath, Swindon and the M4. Ofsted recognised us as Good in every category in June 2013, finding that our students make good progress and achieve well because we meet the needs of all of our students effectively. We are looking to increase our existing team of Examination Invigilators at The John Bentley School. We are seeking to increase our team of Exam Invigilators to supervise students taking external exams at GCSE and GCE and all internal exams. You will required to work throughout the year but predominantly in April, May and June on a casual basis. Full training is provided. All examinations need adult supervision according to examination board rules. In the past this has been a role undertaken by teachers but this is no longer possible. We, therefore, need to appoint invigilators who are able to work as and when needed during the examination seasons. 5 Job Description Examination Invigilator Purpose Reporting to Hours Salary Job Description for Examinations Invigilator All examinations need adult supervision according to examination board rules. In the past this has been a role undertaken by teachers but this is no longer possible. We, therefore, need to appoint invigilators who are able to work as and when needed during the examination seasons. Examinations Officer Variable - Hours and days will vary according to need, but we are seeking responsible adults who can offer between one and a half and five hours per day, and are available from 8.45am and/or until 4:30pm, up to 5 days per week. We aim to give everyone in the team the opportunity to gain practical experience and to develop their skills and knowledge in the role. However, there will be no guaranteed minimum hours of work due to the nature of the role. Applicants do not need to be available for 5 days a week - this often suits people who have other commitments / jobs on certain days. This role also suits people who are only available for part of a day i.e. mornings or afternoons. Grade B Per Hour. All employees of The John Bentley School are required to understand and contribute to the school s Objectives and Core Values. Principle (CORE) Responsibilities Duties and Responsibilities Preparing the examinations room including distribution of papers Supervising entry and seating of candidates. Supervising candidates in a quiet and unobtrusive manner Responding to candidates queries in accordance with the exam regulations Supervising any candidates who may need to leave the room in accordance with exam regulations Acting as a reader/scribe for students Supervising clash candidates between exams Distributing additional paper/equipment as required Ensuring that school policy is adhered to Ensuring that efficient time keeping is maintained Concluding an exam in accordance with exam procedures Assist in the collecting and sorting of exam papers and scripts Ensuring the security of exam papers and scripts Other duties as required by the Exams Officer Post holders may be required to perform duties other than those given above. These may vary from time to time without changing the general level of responsibility. Such variations would not justify the re-evaluation of a post.
