1 Job Fact Sheet 1) POSITION IDENTIFICATION Job Title President & Chief Executive Officer Job Number ADM 01 Job Level Department Title of Supervisor Executive Administration Board Chair Date JFS Created April 2011 Date JFS Reviewed July ) JOB DESCRIPTION Function Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President and Chief Executive Officer ( CEO ) creates association value by providing the vision, leadership, strategy and general management skills necessary to grow the YMCA into a leading player in its industry. This includes the development and implementation of a strategic plan to advance the association s vision, mission, strategies and objectives and to promote growth of the organization. Working with the Board of Directors, the President and CEO enables the Board to fulfill all required governance functions, develops an open and communicative relationship with the Board providing informal and formal updates on the association s strategy, performance, management direction and decisions. In addition, the President and CEO works at building a diverse and inclusive Board representative of the community that it serves, that is highly engaged and willing to leverage and secure resources. As a seasoned professional with a proven track record in achieving corporate growth, the President and CEO is able to give clear direction and guidance to the management team, whilst at the same time allowing them the autonomy to operate successfully.

2 Key Responsibilities Responsibility Time Allocation Duties 1) Legal compliance 20% Assures the filing of all legal and regulatory documents and monitors compliance with relevant laws and regulations 2) Mission, policy and planning 3) Administration, Risk Management and Controls 15% Supports the Board of Directors determine the values, mission, vision Helps the Board of Directors monitor and evaluate the association's relevancy to the community, its effectiveness, and its results Takes the lead in working with the Board of Directors and the Strategic Planning Committee to establish a strategic plan for the association Develops high quality business strategies and plans ensuring their alignment with short-term and longterm objectives 20% Oversees all operations and business activities to ensure they produce the desired results and are consistent with the overall strategy and mission of the association Is responsible for ensuring that policies established by the Board of Directors are fulfilled Provide strategic direction to the Vice Presidents in all areas to ensure long term viability, short-term effectiveness and program area growth Ensures principal risks of the YMCA are assessed and that these risks are being monitored and managed 4) Governance 15% Supports the Board articulate its role and accountabilities and that of its committees and individual members, and supports evaluate performance regularly Works with the Chair of the Board to enable the Board to fulfill its governance functions and facilitates the optimum performance of the Board, its committees and individual Board members With the Board Chair, focuses Board attention on long-range strategic issues Manages the Board's due diligence process to assure timely attention to core issues Recommends volunteers to participate in the Board and its committees 5) Financing 20% Oversees the fiscal activities of the organization including budgeting, reporting and audit Assures an effective fund development program by

3 6) Partnerships and Community /Public Relations overseeing the fund development process and supporting Board members' active participation in the design, implementation and monitoring of a viable fundraising plan, policies and procedures 10% Facilitates the integration of the YMCA into the fabric of the community Initiates, develops and maintains cooperative relationships with key stakeholders Works with legislators, regulatory agencies, volunteers and representatives of the not-for-profit sector to promote legislative and regulatory policies that encourage a healthy community and address the issues of the YMCA's constituencies Serves as chief spokesperson for the association, assuring proper representation of the YMCA in the community 3) SKILLS Education and Training University degree in business management or related field Current and satisfactory Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check Experience Significant experience in a merged organizational culture Minimum five (5) years of senior management experience in a not for profit environment, preferably in the vocational field Sound knowledge of finance, management, governance and employment related practices and legislation Extensive experience developing and growing programs Skills, Knowledge, or Abilities Solid understanding of the political landscape at the local, provincial, and federal levels Exceptional interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively Demonstrated initiative and ability to work effectively within time constraints Superior computer knowledge and ability to learn new programs Superior verbal and written communication skills Change management expertise Project management skills Excellent leadership skills Able to set priorities

Some weeks may require additional hours.
