6 The term collaboration implies: A structure is in place by which the participants will decide how to work and plan together. Participants and agencies deliberately make choices to do things jointly, rather than as individuals. A sense of community exists in which the participants see themselves as mutually benefiting and contributing to the total effort. may2009 6

7 Collaborations have: A clearly defined mission or purpose p which is mutually agreed upon by participants. Active involvement of participants in establishing goals, objectives and activities. iti Clearly defined operating procedures and a clear definition of members roles. A communication system which includes regular information sharing and planned discussion of issues.
