1 ADMISSIONS, RECRUITMENT AND MARKETING SERVICE RECRUITMENT AND OUTREACH DEPARTMENT Recruitment Events Officer (Maternity Cover) Ref: SC3285 The Post The University of East Anglia is seeking applicants for the post of Recruitment Events Officer in the Recruitment and Outreach Department. The successful candidate will play a key role in the organisation and delivery of recruitment events at the university, including open days and applicant days. We seek candidates who possess excellent organisation and communication skills. Experience of organising events would be an advantage. Job Description A job description is attached as Appendix A. The precise duties will be agreed in discussion with the Manager. Person Specification The person specification for this post is attached as Appendix B. GENERAL Salary Salary will be 25,728 to 31,604 per annum on Grade 6 on the single salary spine. The normal expectation is that starting salary will be at the minimum of the advertised salary scale. Starting Date The post is available from 4 June 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter on a fulltime, fixed term basis to cover the maternity leave of the current postholder.

2 This temporary post is available to cover for the absence of the postholder on maternity leave. The appointment will be terminated (with four weeks notice) at the end of the week immediately preceding the return of the postholder from maternity leave. Terms and Conditions of Appointment Full details of terms and conditions of employment for Secretarial & Clerical staff will be made available to the candidate to whom the appointment is offered. Annual Leave Entitlement There is an annual holiday entitlement of 25 days plus statutory (8 days) and customary (6 days) holidays. Superannuation The post is superannuable under the Universities Superannuation Scheme. Disclosure and Barring Service This appointment will be subject to a criminal record check at Enhanced level from the Disclosure and Barring Service. 4 JOB DESCRIPTION REF: SC3285 APPENDIX A Job Title: Recruitment Events Officer (Maternity Cover) Grade: S & C Grade 6 Department: Reporting to: Recruitment and Outreach Office Recruitment Events Manager PURPOSE OF ROLE The post holder will work as part of team which has responsibility for all aspects of the organisation of central recruitment events including the Applicant Days and large-scale undergraduate Open Days. Although based in the Recruitment and Outreach Department the role holder will liaise closely with admissions and marketing colleagues across the University to ensure involvement and engagement with our prospective students. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES To ensure efficient organisation and delivery of the main University Applicant Days, Open Days, the annual Teachers Conference, the Norfolk Higher Education UCAS Fair, a series of campus tour afternoons, Enrichment subject workshops, lectures, Discover Days, sixth form conference and summer schools To be responsible for the recruitment and training of student helpers for recruitment events where appropriate and to take a lead role in overseeing the operational running of the student guide scheme To recruit, train and line manage a Recruitment Events Assistant and offer guidance on their projects To coordinate student helpers when working at central recruitment events. To liaise closely with relevant staff in the various admissions teams and academic Admissions Directors to ensure a high standard of programme delivery and appropriate participation in events from staff in these areas To ensure all pre event administration is completed accurately and disseminated to all parties involved in the event including academics, admissions staff and student helpers and ambassadors To ensure accurate and efficient marketing materials are created and used to market the recruitment events to prospective students To be responsible for developing risk assessments for events and updating these regularly where required To be responsible for updating the website where required

5 Working alongside the relevant offices and the Associate Deans for Admissions to ensure that the office achieves the vision and strategy for admissions and recruitment across the University. To work in collaboration with the Outreach Team, raising aspiration and widening participation to encourage attendance at events on campus with the aim of increasing applications from target groups to the University of East Anglia GENERAL INFORMATION All role holders are expected to undertake such other appropriate duties as may be requested.
