We value: A culture that inspires maximum participation on the part of students, staff and wider community A focus on services that are designed to meet the needs and expectations of customers Responsiveness to changing circumstances and challenges leading to better services A creative and consultative approach to service delivery PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION The Cinema Manager will be engaged in general and specialised duties including the supervision of cinema operations. You will have responsibility for the efficiency and effectiveness of operations of the Belgrave Cinema. The Cinema Manager is responsible for operating the cinema and providing warm and friendly customer service that contributes to the overall customer experience. Your primary purpose will be to ensure customer satisfaction and profit maximisation so as to achieve the strategic and financial objectives of UNE Life Pty Ltd. PAGE 1 OF 6

2 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES As the Cinema Manager, in addition to the tasks of Duty Manager your key areas of responsibility will include: - Operational Responsibility for the Cinema - Financial - Marketing and Promotions - Human Resources - Reporting AREA SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS: Cinema Worker Level 6 Operational Responsibility for the Cinema You will be required to effectively and efficiently manage the cinema, so as to grow sales and profitability by (but not limited to): Monitor and ensure a high standard of customer service in all areas of cinema operations; Ensuring the security and maintenance of all equipment and facilities; Establish strong customer, supplier and Third Party relationships through personal contact and the prompt handling of all levels of complaints and queries; Development and implementation of new business initiatives in conjunction with the Commercial Services Manager; Adherence to all legislative requirements in the operation of the cinema; Monitor and maintain all digital equipment of the cinema; Oversee session programming to maximise profit; Ensure location presentation and cleanliness is to UNE Life Pty Ltd standards; Effectively manage payroll costs whilst still delivering customer service standards; Knowledge of WHS policies and procedures; Undergo any required in-house training such as Emergency Warden training; Ensure the maintenance of food hygiene; personal presentation, WHS, evacuation and statutory regulation compliance at all times; Regularly review and monitor WHS procedures for effectiveness and compliance; Possess a detailed knowledge of the Industrial Award. You will be assessed by measurement of: Increased ticket and associated product sales; Effective implementation of new business initiatives resulting in higher gross earnings; Positive customer feedback; Produce requested reports accurately and on time; WHS, Food Safety and Liquor Licence Audits meet UNE Life Pty Ltd benchmarks; Minimal lost days due to WHS injury; Number of complaints and satisfactory resolution; PAGE 2 OF 6

3 Financial You will be required to improve the financial performance of Belgrave cinema operations including: Development of annual budgets in conjunction with the CSM; Monitoring and corrective action to ensure achievement of approved monthly budgets (particularly sales, COGS and wages); Management of monthly stock takes and investigations of discrepancies; Identify and implement (subject to Director approval) work practices to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness; Identify annual CAPEX budget in conjunction with the CSM have approved by Director- and implement; Authorising payment of accounts promptly; Checking, safe-keeping and banking of cinema funds and receipts Management of debtors to the cinema; Control cinema profitability through management of payroll, inventory, house expenses and repairs & maintenance. You will be assessed by measurement of: Marketing and Promotions Sales and profitability above monthly budget targets operating at gross margins of 55%, increasing gross contributions by 10%; Timely completion of stock take and corrective action; Wages to sale ratios of 20%, or as guided by the CSM; House Expenses / Repairs and Maintenance; Accounts paid accurately and on time. You must proactively maintain the profile of the Cinema and its products through: Development and implementation of weekly promotion of current movies and masterpiece program via mail, , website, advertisements and other applications; The development and implementation of targeted marketing of activities or events; Regular collection of customer s; Increased revenue from on-screen advertising; Establish effective relationships within local community; Ensure displays of merchandise and posters are well presented. You will be assessed by measurement of: Corporate and group bookings revenue; Voucher sales and Loyalty Rewards Program; Food and Beverage sales targets; Meet marketing initiative targets. 4 Human Resources To develop and manage the human resources required for the efficient and effective operations of the Belgrave Cinema, in conjunction with HR Manager, including: - Developing effective work teams and communications systems so as to ensure efficient operations and the delivery of exceptional customer service; - Delegating authority to duty managers; - Leading regular staff meetings and ensuring identified issues are actioned in a timely manner; - Every day management of staff and ongoing informal and formal performance appraisals; - Assist UNE Life HR with recruitment and selection of staff; - Coordination and delivery of staff meetings; - Initial and ongoing training of work, health and safety policies and procedures; - Identification and co-ordination or delivery of staff training. You will be assessed by management on: Wages/Sales ratio at or below budget; Demonstrated clearance of action items from staff meetings; Positive staff feedback; Staff meetings held regularly and minutes recorded; Employee files up to date (including training records). Reporting You will be required to provide monthly reporting on business activities against both the budget and business plan, which includes the corrective actions taken, opportunities for expansion and expenditure. Behavioural Competencies You must possess the following personal attributes: Experience in Cinema Operations and / or extensive management experience in a retail, food service or hospitality/leisure environment involving shift work; Attention to detail and strong planning and organisational skills; Self- motivation; Good ability to engage with and motivate staff; Strong leadership and communication skills; Innovative and creative approach to Cinema operations; Commitment to professional development; Willingness to work weekends and nights; Conflict management skills; Commercial awareness. In the event of an emergency, act as an Emergency Warden; Cinema Managers may be responsible for hiring out the venue for business, training or leisure purposes; Cinema Managers may also arrange special events, including showing films of a particular genre or theme such as the International Film Festival; Any other duties as directed by the Commercial Services Manager. 5 SELECTION CRITERIA 1. Previous experience in Cinema Operations, demonstrated innovative approach to Cinema operations a passion for film and /or extensive management experience in a retail, food service or hospitality/leisure environment involving shift work. 2. Demonstrated strong planning and organisational skills. 3. Demonstrated superior interpersonal and communication skills, negotiation and liaison skills and ability to develop effective relationships with key stakeholder and strategic partners. 4. Demonstrated experience managing staff, strong leadership and motivational skills. 5. Demonstrated ability to harness technology to improve service delivery, management reporting and decision making. 6. An understanding of the hospitality industry. 7. Awareness of WHS, Safe work procedures.
