Creating a competency framework is an effective method to assess, maintain, and monitor the knowledge, skills, and attributes of employees within your organization. Defining competencies enables effective recruitment and selection of new staff, enables evaluation of performance, identification of competency gaps for development as well as providing foundation for succession planning and talent management. However the process of creating a competency framework is complex as it involves evaluation of functions, description of behaviors and the linkage between individual and organizational performance. This seminar is designed to provide HR Practitioners with the practical aspects of creating a sustainable competency model based on proven company competency models and benchmarking of industry models. In 2016, Nora spoke at a Women in Leadership seminar in Oxford University and was a Panel member in the Economist Series on Skills 4.0, and actively presents in forums in her quest to make a difference. Nora was awarded the Beacon of Light at the National Women in Leadership Summit organised by the Asian Strategy & Leadership Institute (ASLI) in partnership with the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development in August BACKER R. SEYAM (MBA) Strategy Execution Specialist PhD Strategic Management & Entrepreneurship, Candidate, UKM Backer has extensive business consulting experience. Over the past 15 years, he has taken an active and leading role in developing and executing innovative business strategies for different sectors governmental, NGOs and private businesses. He participated actively in the government transformational program of Saudi Arabia (Vision 2030 and National Transformation Program 2020) as well as led many transformational and change management programs at different organization. Backer joined different international and regional consulting firms (PwC, Kaplan-Norton s Palladium Group, KPF International, and others). His experience extends far beyond strategy execution using best practices such as the Execution Premium Process, XPP (BSC, Strategy Map). It includes but not limited to performance management, strategy development (using Blue Ocean Strategy framework), business process reengineering, and talent and organization development (competency modeling, job design, training and development, and organizational restructuring). He has been working with large

4 organizations developing and translating strategies into daily operations, designing world-class business processes models using a leading BPM tools, ARIS Business Architect. Backer now is pursuing his postgraduate studies, PhD in Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship, at UKM Malaysia. He received his Master degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Jordan in He specialized in strategy and management innovation studying factors that foster generating and implementing innovative management practices. Backed with years of working experience in the Hospitality and Education Industry has given him sound knowledge in Employee Relations especially in employee Performance Competencies and Customer Service. Geared with this exposure and experience, his delivery has been able to bridge the gaps in organizational needs by transforming the contents into reflective inputs for employees to succeed in their working place. His initiatives in MEF ACADEMY has taken him a step further, where he was involved as a Co Trainer in SCORE Initiatives organized by International Training Center (ITC) of the International Labor Organization (ILO). He is also collaborating in conducting programs with other Employers Organization within Asia such as Cambodian Federation of Employers and Business Associations (CAMFEBA), Vietnam Chamber Of Commerce & Industry (VCCI) and Employers Confederation of Philippines (ECOT), Fiji Commerce & Employers Federation (FCEF) and Employers Federation of Ceylon (EFC).
