7 DIVERSITY AT WORK This thought-provoking and experiential session will explore the many types of diversity your employees bring to the team and how this can be leveraged to drive business success. during this session, participants will learn about various forms of diversity as described within the Human Rights Act, as well as other forms such as generational and personality differences gain a unique understanding of what happens to employees and an organization when diversity is neither understood nor appreciated gain an awareness of how diversity drives business success in the present and future build a strategy to improve communication on the topic of diversity amongst colleagues and leaders implement steps to enhance acceptance and appreciation of diversity and to celebrate the uniqueness of each member of the team brings to the organization one day session all employees

8 MANAGING A RESPECTFUL WORKPLACE This session is a must for managers and leaders. Frequently, issues of disrespect, harassment and discrimination escalate in a workplace as a result of the manager being ill-equipped to respond in a prompt, respectful and appropriate manner. When issues and incidences are left unaddressed or are addressed improperly, it creates an unhealthy toxic workplace. This leads to needless employee suffering, escalated gossip and turmoil, and the financial costs associated with absenteeism, lack of production and legal issues.

10 MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID Mental Health will affect one in three Canadians at some point in their lives. Chances are you know someone who needs help. are your employees certified first-aiders? The Mental Health Commission of Canada has developed and certified this course in Mental Health First Aid. Statistics show that mental health s annual cost to Canada s economy is 50 billion dollars with six billion dollars lost in productivity annually due to associated absenteeism. Over 70 percent of disability costs are associated with mental health issues.

11 Many managers do not know how to deal with these issues or they deal with them inappropriately as a result of a lack of understanding and corporate direction. during this session, participants will gain awareness of mental health challenges understand Mental Health First Aid skills in order to assist employees who are experiencing mental health challenges two day session all employees

12 MANAGING MENTAL HEALTH in the workplace The ability to manage mental health issues is one of the most common concerns expressed by managers in Canadian workplaces. The role of managers is highly important yet many managers feel ill-equipped to deal with these issues. They often are not sure what they should say to the employee or what they should do to provide support while taking into account operational requirements. As a result, some of their actions and/or inactions could lead to considerable personal and emotional costs to individuals as well as financial costs to their organization.

13 during this session, participants will learn how to talk to employees about mental health issues demonstrate support and accommodation while taking into account operational requirements deal with issues and assess risks while at the same time promoting and supporting a healthy and nurturing environment for employees Participants will receive a toolkit developed by psychologist, Dr. John Marr that will provide strategies to support employees with mental health challenges, their colleagues and leaders. 14 INVESTIGATING DISCRIMINATION/ HARASSMENT COMPLAINTS When an issue of harassment and/or discrimination occurs and requires an investigation, who will conduct it for your business? Investigations are costly if done externally, but can be more costly if done internally by someone who does not understand how to conduct an effective investigation.
