2 Coaching & Mentoring for Sustainable Growth Coaching & Mentoring Mentoring and Coaching has achieved buzzword status and mentoring and coaching programs are being introduced in many organizations. What is mentoring and coaching and what outcomes can reasonably be expected? Is its popularity matched by results? There are many issues to be considered before adopting mentoring or coaching as an individual or organizational development strategy. This interactive introduction will explore the mentoring and coaching concepts, discuss its application in a variety of situations and examine the potential of mentoring and coaching in this organization. Overview of Coaching This is a 1-day experience that will transform participant s life. Utilizing super learning techniques, the seminar is designed to shift their mindset and show them a better and more productive way to lead their working and managing life through coaching. They will learn about themselves, and what has been stopping them from achieving the «Coach» role. Objectives of Coaching To learn the coaching process through experiential activities. To learn the Praxis Process Model of Coaching. To learn about the listening roadblocks for improvement. To evaluate situations and to identify coachable moments. To learn about the coaching habits of the high achievers. To learn about the skills, knowledge and attitudes required. Program intent This seminar teaches participants to be an effective coach/mentor and will introduce the 6-phase Praxis Coaching Process Model and learn the skills and techniques necessary to enable others to achieve professional success. Overview of Mentoring Mentoring programs to attract, retain and develop employees are popular. The key to a successful mentoring program is planning and design. In this seminar, the critical elements of program design will be reviewed. Strategies for matching mentoring partners and facilitating the establishment of effective relationships will be discussed. Objectives of Mentoring Participants will leave the seminar with a framework for their own in-house mentoring program. During the workshop they will have the opportunity to: Determine realistic objectives for a mentoring program; Identify components of a mentoring program; Discuss mentor matching process for their organization; Consider evaluation techniques; and Draft a timeline for a mentoring program. Learning Outcomes Participants will Be able to hear what people are saying rather than their interpretation of what is being said. Know how to listen on behalf of the individual (investigate opportunity, search for the desired outcomes). Ask questions that promote action rather than be directive. Provide honest and direct feedback that is respectful. Acknowledge and celebrate the ongoing progress, growth and development of their people. Target Participants This seminar is particularly beneficial for participants who would like to develop Mentoring and Coaching skills. This seminar will be beneficial for people and local volunteer mentors who have responsibilities for ensuring that a business unit, department or team operate efficiently and effectively. This program is also suitable and highly recommended for Senior Management Level. Similarity Between Coaching & Mentoring There are many similarities and differences between mentoring and coaching. However the most important distinction is: Coaching is used when there is a well-defined short term goal that is based on improving skills and performance. Mentoring is valuable for long term career development, providing general guidance, setting and achieving goals, making decisions or facilitating problem solving. Coaching is about performance, mentoring is personal. So while it is appropriate and desirable for a person's immediate supervisor to coach them, a mentor is best not to be in the direct reporting line.
