2 About ECO Canada Core Values The Environmental Careers Organization of Canada (ECO Canada) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to creating programs and services that benefit the Canadian environmental sector. We work with academic institutions, Indigenous communities, government and industry to build the world s leading environmental workforce. Independence: We maintain independence in all areas of activity from funding to the development of policy positions. Service & Quality: We strive to provide value to industry, employers and the workforce by ensuring high quality products and services. 6 Environmental Professional (EP ) Designation EP is the only nationally recognized environmental designation. EP members add value to the environmental sector by meeting rigorous competencies based on the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for Environmental Employment. We offer three levels of membership aligned with career progression: Environmental Professional (EP ), Environmental Professional-in-Training (EPt), and EP Auditor (CEA & EMSLA). 8 Supporting Environmental Employment ECO Canada is passionate about creating employment opportunities for emerging professionals. Our wage funding provides employers with up to $15,000 to hire graduates in the fields of STEM or Natural Resources (must be eligible to work in Canada). The programs, funded by Environment and Climate Change Canada s Science Horizons Program and Natural Resources Canada, pay up to 50% of a candidate s salary and give them a start in a competitive market. 10 Academic Program Accreditation A growing number of Canadian environmental education programs have the ECO Canada seal of approval. ECO Canada accredited programs are regularly assessed to meet the skills required by environmental employers. Accreditation is granted by The Canadian Environmental Accreditation Commission (CEAC) according to the National Standard for Environmental Programs. Graduates of the ECO Canada accredited programs get a head-start with an integrated Environmental Professional-in-Training designation (EPt). PAGE - 10

11 Canadian Centre for Environmental Education We partnered with Royal Roads University to form the Canadian Centre for Environmental Education (CCEE). Through this partnership we offer innovative, online degree programs designed for professionals interested in advancing their career in the environmental sector.
