1 Strategic Plan At Relationships Australia Canberra and Region we help individuals, families and communities to grow, thrive and deal with life s challenges. We believe in an equitable society, where everyone has the opportunity to make positive choices around living, working and relating to others. Our work is based on recognising the rights of all people to live with dignity and safety, to feel they belong, and to have healthy, respectful relationships. 1

2 Strategic Plan Introduction This Strategic Plan guides the Board and the staff of Relationships Australia Canberra & Region in our work, so that we continue to become the organisation we aspire to, we are clear about how we achieve our goals, and we define the culture we are nurturing. It has been developed by the RACR Board and staff, it has been informed by community consultations, and it is supported by an annual Business Plan. 2

3 The values that guide our work We champion the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Our services are based in principles of fairness and equity. We respect and care about the people who come to us. We are sensitive and responsive to people s needs. We act with integrity and honesty in our professional practice, in our management and teamwork and in our work with others in the community. We are passionate and courageous in our ideas and actions. We pursue excellence and innovation in service delivery, We work in partnership and collaboration with people, families and community. Our Vision Communities where all people have healthy and respectful relationships. Our Purpose Shaping lives together is at the heart of our work. We assist all people to live in strong, connected relationships by striving to be a pre-eminent provider of relationship support services. 3

4 What we do Relationships are our most precious assets, and relationships can be tough. We are passionate about delivering practical outcomes for individuals, couples, families, young people, children and communities. Over the coming three years we will also focus on achieving outcomes for young people, people from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities, and for people living in regional and rural communities surrounding the ACT, and in southern and south western NSW. Our Services Relationships Australia Canberra & Region is a member of the national federation of Relationships Australia that provides relationship support services from over 200 centres across Australia. Our services and programs are delivered in the ACT, southern and south western NSW. Our services include: Individual, couple and family counselling; Family therapy; Mediation and family dispute resolution services; Family Referral services; 4

5 Royal Commission support services; Find & Connect support services; Children s Contact services; Relationship education programs; Family violence and anger management programs; Rural and regional outreach counselling and support; Employee Assistance programs; and Professional training and supervision services. Our Strategic Goals and outcomes The following strategic directions and priorities will guide the Relationships Australia Canberra & Region Board, management and staff team in service development, resource allocation and in making commitments to new projects over the coming three years. 1- Deliver outstanding services to our communities We will be the pre-eminent provider of relationship support services in our regions. We will continually improve our systems, infrastructure and resources to support staff in delivering high quality, evidence based and responsive services. We will have the capacity to meet demand. 2- Deliver targeted services that meet the needs of our communities We will continue to develop services identified by the communities we serve, particularly for those who are most in need, including young people, people from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities, and people living in regional and rural communities. 3- Relationship development informs every aspect of our work. We will always strive for strong connections with clients, community partners, and Government. We include clients, staff and community input into our service planning. We will work with our community partners towards the vision of a cohesive and dynamic community. 5
