Respnsibility fr: Rle Summary: The Dean will prvide strategic leadership t ne f the largest and mst mdern Business Schl s in Sctland t ensure that the University s strategic bjectives are achieved. They will develp the Schl s academic reputatin, prvide an utstanding experience fr students and ensure an inspiring envirnment fr staff t prgress their careers. The Business Schl shuld als wrk clsely with the business sectr and ther key stakehlders t develp lng lasting relatinships which supprt an increase in student numbers and incme grwth. The Dean is nt nly a leader within the Business Schl but is als a member f the Senir Leadership Grup prviding leadership at a University wide level. T supprt ur strategic gals the Dean will cntribute by: Grw ur academic reputatin Attracting, develping and retaining academics that are renwned in their field t ensure that Edinburgh Napier Business Schl has a strng academic reputatin. Grwing the research and schlarship base within the schl t ensure that ur teaching is infrmed by current research and Edinburgh Napier Business Schl is knwn fr its research prfile and prfessinal engagement. Ensuring that ur teaching is recgnised as excellent and ur prtfli f prgrammes is bth relevant and attractive t students. Deliver an excellent persnalised student experience Prviding an excellent student experience fr all students and ensure they feel stretched and challenged. Teaching shuld be underpinned by research and prfessinal practice t ensure it is up t date and relevant. Ensuring each student receives excellent teaching and quality feedback frm supprtive academics t allw them t achieve their ptential. 3 Main Duties and Respnsibilities Prvide utstanding leadership t the Schl thrugh/by: the creatin f a cherent and cmpelling visin, strategy and plan f delivery that engages and mtivates staff and stakehlders t deliver activities in supprt f the visin; the attractin, management and retentin f talent t achieve academic and leadership excellence; building leadership capability, research prfiles and academic reputatin acrss the Schl; enabling develpment pprtunities and plans t ensure career develpment within the schl; rle mdelling leadership behaviurs t ensure effective team wrking and psitive staff engagement in all activities; ensuring the highest standards f research, teaching and learning are achieved; exceptinal cmmunicatin skills and an ability t inspire, develp and manage Schl perfrmance acrss all levels representing and prmting the Schl and University in a wide range f internal and external cntexts acrss relevant sectrs Ensure the effective peratinal management f the Schl thrugh; clear bjectives and measurable targets fr all members f staff which link t Schl plans and verarching strategic gals; cmpliance with University plicy, prcess and gvernance; aligning resurces effectively t ensure successful delivery f plans; effective peratinal plans and clear lines f accuntability; financial frecasting and planning t deliver strategic targets; cmpliance with financial, legislative and budgetary rules; apprpriate planning t achieve dmestic and internatinal student recruitment and retentin targets. Manage and develp the Schl s academic prtfli, and cntribute t the develpment f the wider University academic prtfli, by: wrking in cnjunctin with clleagues acrss the University, ensuring the academic prtfli matches demand and delivers strategic targets; ensuring the range f disciplines and subjects represented in the Schl are apprpriate and regularly reviewed at bth undergraduate and pstgraduate level; demnstrating a detailed and cmmercial understanding f external market trends (UK and beynd) acrss the schl fr curses and prgrammes; supprting academic develpment f staff t ensure excellence thrughut delivery f the prtfli; building pstgraduate research activity. Deliver the University agenda fr academic grwth by: ensuring the achievement f an excellent student experience acrss all prgrammes delivered in the Schl; driving the grwth f research, knwledge exchange, public engagement and enterprise; develping the capacity fr research degree supervisin amngst the academic staff f the Schl.
