1 7.5 Tonne Lorry Driver Reporting to: Accountable to: Hours: Location: Remuneration: Contract: Regional Food Sourcing & Logistics Coordinator Operations Manager Full time (37.5 hours) 9am to 5pm Barnsley, South Yorkshire 8.75 per hour One Year Fixed-Term (with a view to its possible continuation) Are you a qualified 7.5 tonne delivery driver looking for a new and exciting opportunity to work for a Yorkshire s largest food charity? We are currently looking for a 7.5 tonne lorry driver to make daily collections from food partners and deliveries to three warehouses by effective collaboration with our Food Sourcing & Logistics Coordinator, Operations Manager and warehouse managers. About FareShare Yorkshire FareShare Yorkshire is a unique charity which fights food insecurity by tackling needless food waste. We redistribute quality in-date food that is surplus to requirements from food producers, manufacturers and distributors and engage volunteers to help redistribute this to hundreds of local charities and community groups known as Community Food Members. These CFMs provide meals to vulnerable people in soup kitchens, homeless shelters, women s refuges and elderly lunch clubs to name a few. By ensuring good food is not wasted, we turn an environmental problem into a solution, helping to feed over 15,000 people each week. This new role is critical to our future as we seek to double our work in under three years, and the number of charities we can support across will be heavily influenced by the number and size of timely collections you make. You will be joining during a period of incredible growth and play a pivotal role in helping the charity reach its full potential. Our national partner FareShare UK has strong relationships with some of the most influential food businesses in the UK but there are many other food businesses on a regional level with whom we seek to develop strong relationships. This is where your role comes in. Main purpose of this role You will drive across Yorkshire and Hull & Humber to ensure that more surplus food is collected from existing and new food partners for three regional centres in Barnsley, Leeds and Hull.

2 This role sits in the Operations Team and will have responsibility for collecting surplus food both on schedules and short notice. Your timely collection and delivery will ensure that more surplus food can be distributed on to charities and community groups. The successful candidate will work closely with the Food Sourcing & Logistics Coordinator and Operations Manager of FareShare Yorkshire to ensure our food partners receive excellent operational support and customer service. Job Description The successful candidate will collect surplus food from food partners, deliver to the right regional centre depending on capacity and need and work with colleagues to improve this one-year trial so that we get food from A to B as quickly and appropriately as possible. Food collection and customer service o Provide excellent customer service to food industry contacts in person and by phone, offering a highly professional impression of the charity. o Support the Food Sourcing & Logistics Coordinator by delivering stock offered from industry to Regional Centres in a timely fashion, communicating ETAs as necessary. o Maintain records of collections and allocations. o Identify any barriers or opportunities and feedback any developments or challenges to the Food Sourcing & Logistics Coordinator. o Highlight and respond quickly to any anticipated delays or difficulties, using problem solving skills to mitigate any unforeseen circumstances. o Ensure that deliveries follow the assigned route and all delivery windows are met safely. o Ensure you represent the charity in a professional, friendly manner and adhere to all laws. o Resolve day-to-day queries, and ensure feedback is received. o Ensure the quality of the product delivered is accurate against notes. Warehouse engagement o Provide excellent customer service to the three Regional Centres in person and by phone. o Relay feedback from food partners to the Food Sourcing & Logistics Coordinator and support them to make constant improvements. Supplier engagement o Respond quickly to any concerns or opportunities that food partners bring to your attention, ensuring they are relayed immediately to the Food Sourcing & Logistics Coordinator. o Strengthen existing relationships by providing a reliable and friendly service.

3 o Ensure volumes of surplus food continue to be provided by satisfying any Health & Safety/Operational requirements of food partners and informing them if an appointment cannot be kept. o Identify problems that are likely to occur again and work with the Food Sourcing & Logistics Coordinator to develop solutions which are appropriate. Vehicle maintenance o Ensure the vehicle is properly maintained to a high specification. o Co-ordinate its proper servicing and cleaning with the Food Sourcing & Logistics Coordinator. Team and project support o Support the Food Sourcing & Logistics Coordinator and Operations Manager as required. o Feedback ideas for improving processes and operations linked to the provision of food. o This position will involve lifting with the provision of lifting equipment. o You may be required to complete other duties as requested to suit the needs of the business. Slight flexibility with start and finish times as per need and driver regulations. Working hours will ordinarily be Monday to Friday 9am until 5pm each day but some weekend work will be required. The lorry base is Unit 14, Aldham Industrial Estate, Wombwell, Barnsley, S73 8HA

4 Person Specification You will need excellent communication skills over the phone and by , be very organised and be able to prioritise working on several work streams simultaneously. The aim is to support the charity in this ground-breaking new trial with a view to its continuation and replication. Skills, Knowledge and abilities Essential o Full 7.5 Tonne driving licence - C1. o CPC card and a TACHO Graph Card. o Strong communication skills and a friendly, professional manner. o Strong time management skills to cope with scheduled collections and deadlines. o Ability to work with limited supervision and use own initiative. o Planning and prioritisation skills. o Flexibility. Desirable o Prior experience of multi-drop driving. o Understanding of how FareShare Yorkshire operates and its objectives. o Strong problem-solving ability. Experience Essential Driving a 7.5 tonne lorry. Working in a customer-facing role. Proven track record of working to agreed guidelines. Proven ability to form good working relationships, both internally and externally. Desirable Experience of working within a logistics, supply chain or warehouse setting.
