1 Festival Internacional de Globo November 17-20, 2017 SHIPPING INSTRUCTIONS THE FOLLOWING IS A GUIDELINE ON HOW TO SUCCESSFULLY SHIP YOUR BALLOON EQUIPMENT TO LEON AND RETURN. Balloons must be at the correct warehouse for loading before September 24, 2017 for shipment from Barcelona, Spain or before October 31 st, 2017 for USA balloons. Labeling is critical Examples with instructions on how to label your shipment will be included. The rest is up to you. If you mislabel or fail to label your equipment, you may have to pay the freight yourself. This is fair warning. Each year, we have some equipment that has been returned to the wrong location. LABELING IS EVERYTHING. Palletizing your balloon It is now required to place the balloon and fan (if you are taking a fan,) on one pallet. There are some very simple and elegant solutions for stacking your equipment. Details upon request. You must also empty your propane tanks and the gasoline from your inflator fan. Last year some pilots shared fans, thereby reducing the freight and hassle of taking a fan for every pilot. It is left up to the pilots to coordinate fans. If you do bring a fan and stack it on top of one pallet, there is no chance that another pallet will be stacked on top of your basket. You may crate your equipment if you wish, but either way, secure your shipment to the pallet with tie down straps or any way you wish, so the entire package may be moved by forklift. It is suggested that you provide some protection from normal shipping damage and then shrink-wrap the palletized items. Place the labels on the outside with shipping envelopes that have a see through front or you may simply tape the label on the shipment with clear packaging tape. Rolls of Shrink-Wrap may be purchased at a number of places such as Office Depot or Office Max. Shrink wrap will be provided in Mexico for the return shipment. No need to include shrink wrap in the baskets. I will personally be there to witness the trucks as they arrive at Laredo for customs inspections and again on the return trip.

2 Festival Internacional de Globo November 17-20, 2017 Additional Shipping Instructions I strongly suggest the pilots pack the envelope in the basket, the burner on top of the envelope and then to find a way to safely and securely stack the fan on top of or in the basket. I know this will not be possible in all cases. What this will accomplish is that it will not be possible to stack anything else on top of that arrangement which is exactly what you want. The effort will be worth it. If you do this we will be able to accommodate higher pallets and at the same time give some on the pallet size. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. We will not stack any item on top of any other items except envelopes on top of other envelopes if we need to in order to get it all in the truck. Photographs will be taken at the loading warehouse. Photographs will be taken at and during the inspection at the border in Laredo. Again, I will be in Laredo to ensure that the final transfer of balloons to the semitrailers does not include any stacking. Please let me know if you have any suggestions on a better way to minimize floor space in the semitrailers Pallet dimensions may not exceed 48w x60d x80 h. This symbol should be on the wood pallets used. Plastic pallets are preferred. Commercial Invoice A Commercial Invoice must be attached to the outside of the shipment. An example of the one I use is provided to you as an example in a separate file. You must EDIT this invoice to reflect the correct information on your balloon, please do not use a copy of my invoice for your balloon. ITEMIZE all items on your pallet. If you have questions, please contact Phil Bryant. Items that may be included this year: The following items may be included in your palletized shipment, so you will not have to carry them on the airplane: All items included must be listed on the Commercial Invoice. Envelope Burner Uprights or burner frame Tanks (empty) with or without covers Hand tools necessary to assemble balloon Strikers Envelope Squeezer Drop Lines Inflation Safety Harness tie downs. Tether lines Refueling adapter

3 Extension Cords for tank heating Nitrogen Regulator for Tank pressurizing Tarp for inflation and take down Banner Pins, bungee cord, items to secure the banner. Fire Extinguisher First Aid Kit Flashlights Registration/Airworthiness Pouch Flight Manual 2 Pair of Used Gloves for handling balloons Each and every item must be itemized on the commercial invoice attached to the balloon while in transit. If it is discovered that items are not itemized on the commercial invoice, they may be confiscated. This is not negotiable. Do not include these items: Do not include ANY equipment that is not required for balloon operations. Do not pack radios, GPS, Igloo Coolers, removable instruments or high value items. Do not include any substance that is flammable, explosive, or toxic. If you cannot bring it on an airplane, do not include it in the truck. You may not ship Champagne or other alcoholic substances. Gloves, Shoes, Balloon cards, articles of clothing, and Balloon Pins are all prohibited items. These items will be confiscated and you may be subject to a fine. You should not include any personal items in the balloon shipment including suitcases. If items of a non-balloon nature are found in the shipment, they will be removed at the border and hopefully returned to you when your balloon is returned. No guarantees. Items such as fold up chairs, trading cards, rolls of shrink wrap, and so on will be taken and most likely not returned. You must ITEMIZE each and every item on the pallet and in the basket. It is strongly suggested you take your flight instruments and radio gear with you on the airplane. It is much easier to explain what they are to customs than try to get them back from customs when they have confiscated them. Bring these items with you in either checked luggage or hand carry on the airplane. The festival will not reimburse you for lost items left in the baskets. If you have questions in this regard, please contact Phil Bryant. Hazardous Materials Declarations A Hazardous Materials Declarations must be placed on the outside of the shipment for both the fan and the tanks in the basket. I have included an example of the one I use on my basket and fan. Prepare a Hazardous Warning label which includes Gasoline and Propane to be installed on the one allowed pallet. I have posted an example on the website under Festival Articles, for you to download and use.
