3 Public Open House and Stakeholder Meeting Summary Sioux Falls Stakeholder Meeting A representative from the South Dakota Trucking Association attended Electronic Screening is important to the trucking industry to decrease idle time SDDOT should continue to install electronic screening at weigh stations Electronic log books are going to have an impact on truck parking facilities because the freight hauler is going to have to shut down when hours of service are reached or risk fine Electronic log books are required December 2017 No congestion areas reported Comment on intersections with turning issues. Room 250 Rapid City Region Office 4801 Career Avenue 2300 Eglin St. Sioux Falls, SD Rapid City, SD The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) will hold two public meetings/open houses to receive public input on the South Dakota Freight plan. The open house will be informal allowing for one on one discussion with SDDOT personnel. The purpose of the meeting is to present and discuss the goals, objectives and strategies identified in the South Dakota Freight Plan. People who have interest in freight issues are encouraged to attend and participate in the plan. A brief presentation will take place at 5:35 p.m. SDDOT staff will be available with displays after the presentation to discuss the plan and answer your questions. During this time, you will also have the opportunity to present written comments. The SDDOT will receive public input on the South Dakota Freight plan. The open houses will be informal allowing for one on one discussion with SDDOT personnel.
