3 UPDATE Japanese official currently in South Africa evaluating systems. The official reported consignments of citrus detected with live mealy bug and was fumigated. Cartons missing the SAPQ markings were incinerated. Korean officials have arrived busy conducting verifications in Mpumalanga. Inspections to commence next week. Reported challenges with multiple consignees in a container traceability. Ethephon testing have commenced in some regions. India first in transit trial shipment in progress. 3

12 ACTION PLAN FOR DURBAN Inspection applications to be ed to DBNKZN@daff.gov.za Only application and if applicable import permit to be forwarded and fully completed with reference number. Applications sent the previous day shall only be inspected today. To strengthen communication between exporter/agent with cold store - avoid requests when consignments are not yet at cold store. Pack house/exporter to consult PUC database for special markets Overtime requests shall be seriously looked at justification needed. Some consignments only shipped later. 12

13 ACTION PLAN FOR 2018 DURBAN Cont.. Cold stores/inspection points to comply with inspection criteria. To be ready for the season. Inspections shall not commence if not ready. Inspection points to ensure adequate personnel as well as are trained in the procedures including the sampling. Shipping lines/exporters to ensure arrival of containers as scheduled for Korea, Thailand and Japan. Late arrivals shall not be entertained. Availability of equipment!!!!!! Requests for calibration and loading of containers for Thailand to be sent to the DAFF. Calibration depots to provide the list of containers to be calibrated during the request for Korea. 13

14 ACTION PLAN FOR 2018 DURBAN Cont.. All cold stores that are handling citrus to the EU to be registered with DAFF visit DAFF website for application form. Phyto s for Korea, Japan, China and Thailand containers to be sent to DAFF office at FPT. Tariffs: R210 per phyto R212 per half hour - inspection official hours (07:30 16:00) R319 per half hour after 16:00 20:00 & Saturdays R425 per half hour Sundays and public holidays China, Japan and Korea 49c or 46c + R212 per half hour for overtime inspections 14
