2 Model Series III Belt Conveyor Updated Sep 2010 Application The Model 571 Belt Conveyor is simple and robust by design and has a number of applications within a baggage handling system, including: Simple transportation conveyor. Check-In collector conveyor. Loading / Unloading conveyor. Use as a sortation lateral. Early bag storage lanes. Conveying of oversize baggage. Although the conveyor has been designed specifically with the handling of airport baggage in mind, it is also well suited to the handling of other products, such as parcel handling, mail order, unit loads, etc. Model 571 Belt Conveyor The Model 571 belt conveyor is of modular design, enabling the unit to be supplied at variable lengths and incline / decline angles. It is sufficiently flexible to accommodate variations in sidewall height, belt width, belt type etc., and can be floor or ceiling mounted. Features Choice of drive packs end or centre drives Drive located within head bed Drive located in centre bed Shaft Mounted Gear Box Three Pulley Drive Configuration Range of Drive Sizes 1.1 to 4.0kw Horizontal gearbox, even on incline conveyors Removable sidewalls local to drive bed Screw Take-Up Design Short Faced End Pulley Fully welded unlagged pulleys External Bearings on Pulleys, with recesses for access with puller High Bearing Life Max 2 bearing sizes, 40mm 2 hole plus 50mm 4 hole flange Tail Snubber Roller Reinforced bed plates Close Belt Return Roller Pitch Design Flexibility Fire Retardent Belting to ISO 340 Quiet Running During Operation Modular Design Application Benefits SEW as standard, others available as non-standard Reduces number of pulleys. Used on conveyors typically up to 16m long. Ideal for reversing application or longer conveyors up to 27m long Drive reliability and ease of maintenance Belt is driven on the noncarrying surface Drive pack selected to suit conveyor length, speed, product loading etc. Improved lubrication, oil fill consistent on all boxes Easy belt splicing access Belt adjusts from one side of conveyor Eliminates trap points for fingers and straps etc. by the use of dummy pulleys Zero maintenance Maintenance friendly, bearing replaced without need to remove pulley Conveyor designed normally to L10 50,000 hr bearing life Reduced spares holding and ease of maintenance Ease of belt tracking Increases load capacity of conveyor Eliminates sagging of belt on return path Accommodate variations such as sidewall height, bed width, drive components etc. Reduces the spread of fire Noise level typically around 70dBa, speed & location dependant Facilitates installation and any subsequent modifications

General Construction The Model 571 Belt Conveyor is made up of modular units. These include an end drive bed of 900mm long, which requires a 1000mm long removable sidewall bed, or a centre drive bed, which includes removable sidewalls, total length 1100mm. Tail beds are 400mm long, and non driven head beds 600mm. Mid beds are usually 2850mm long, which are cut back should any special make-up beds be required. The construction of all the conveyor modules is press formed from 2.5mm thick sheet steel, with rolled steel angle cross members tying between the side frames. The bed plate is reinforced with stiffeners across the width of the conveyor. Head, Tail and Take-Up pulleys are 127mm diameter being of a fully welded construction, machine turned to ensure concentricity, after final welding. Drive pulleys on the end drive are 127mm, these are increased to 220mm on the centre drive. All pulleys along the full length of the Belt Conveyor are fitted with external bearings to give suitable adjustment to align the pulley, and for ease of maintenance. Snubber Rollers are 76mm diameter, and return belt rollers are 63mm, both of which are fitted with internal sealed for life bearings.
