2 Future Freight Networks The ALC Year Book 2012 Dear ALC stakeholder After the success of the Australian Logistics Council s (ALC) 2011 Yearbook Future Freight Networks, it is with great pleasure that I invite you to take part in supporting the industry publication for ALC is the peak national body representing the major and national companies participating in the Australian freight transport and logistics (T&L) supply chain. ALC is now the only industry-funded body in Australia focusing specifically on ensuring our national supply chains are safe, secure, efficient, reliable, sustainable and internationally competitive. Future Freight Networks 2011 was a great success with stakeholders, decision makers, industry and government. As well as reaching a wide range of industry players, copies were distributed to senior government officials including ministers and shadow ministers in the national, state and territory parliaments, as well as senior officials in transport and infrastructure departments. Future Freight Networks 2012, produced in conjunction with Executive Media Pty Ltd, will build upon the impressive standard that has been set by the previous year, providing information on the key issues currently facing industry members. The journal-style publication will be the must-have resource for insight into the policies, priorities and projects of ALC, and will showcase the reasons for Australia s social and economic dependence on the T&L sector. It will also contain a feature on the ALC s Annual Forum 2012, themed Positioning Australia in the Global Supply Chain which attracts over 300 of the senior industry and government executives across its two days. Future Freight Networks is a unique vehicle for reaching key decision makers within the highest levels of industry and government.
