2 The global despatch project was started as a joint effort of AIAG, JAMA-JAPIA, and ODETTE to elaborate a harmonize electronic despatch message as a common standard for global use in the automotive industry. Participants in the project team are experts from automotive manufacturers and their suppliers as well as EDI and modeling experts. Business experts in the project team were interviewed. Based on the output of these interviews, the business process was analyzed and UML models of the process and connected activities were created, from which the necessary data structures were to be derived. The UN/EDIFACT Standard was chosen as the basis for the final electronic message. The message is based on UN/EDIFACT directory D.00A. The underlying premise of this activity is to document the various business scenarios, activities, and data requirements as UML models and then translate that information into a UN/EDIFACT message. The modeling is based on the UN/CEFACT Unified Modeling Methodology (UMM) as defined in the N090 specification. Business Opportunity The auto industry can reduce cost by developing and documenting common recommended business practices that use available technology such as the electronic exchange of Despatch Business Information in a consistent manner. The business contract (whether verbal or written) defines the point within the process when the exchange of despatch information between trading partners for goods/services rendered is required. The process of generating and transmitting information regarding the movement of finished goods is called the despatch process. 3 Scope The project describes the despatch process and its variants. It considers the legal statement and, to a certain extent, arguments or corrections of a despatch. It does not explain the process that establishes the business relationship between the parties or the reimbursement for despatched goods/services. Within the body of this document the terms Seller and Supplier will be used interchangeably. Similarly, Buyer and Customer will be used to mean exactly the same party. Normally, Buyer and Seller stand for the financial concept of a party's role whereas Customer and Supplier are used as actors, but when reaching the message level, parties playing a unique role should be identified. For example: Supplier will be replaced with Seller and/or Supplier and/or Manufacturer and/or Ship-from and/or Shikyu-moto. Similarly, Customer will be replaced with Ship-to and/or Buyer to describe the materials management role of a party more precisely. In detail, the following functions will be in the scope of the Despatch business domain: Traditional Supplier-to-Customer dispatch Despatches involving Supplier, Customer, Ship-from, and Ship-to entities The following tasks will not be in the scope of the Despatch business domain: Order/Forecast/Schedule processes Payment/remittance documents and procedures Customs declarations, import licenses, brokerage transactions References The message structure of this message is based on the AIAG DESADV Implementation Guidelines message structure. For those segments and/or elements which Webasto does not use, Webasto reserves the right to implement usage in the future, according AIAG DESADV Implementation Guidelines. This includes the transport protocol, which is vital in understanding the wrappers, response requirements, syntax of the message sent, and message format. The trading partners honor all obligations / commitments as agreed. The trading partners accept material / service provided according to the terms of the Contract. There will be a reliable flow of business instructions, material, and/or services as necessary to complete the ongoing production process. Supplier Expectations Trading partner agreements must be established. This includes the transport protocol, which is vital in understanding the wrappers, response requirements, syntax of the message sent, and message format. The trading partners honor all obligations / commitments as agreed. The trading partners provide material / service for acceptance according to the terms of the Contract. 5 SECTION 4: UN/EDIFACT Message Implémentation Guideline The message implementation guideline describes how the semantic content is being applied to the D.00A UN/EDIFACT standard message DESADV. It contains four different reports: A structure / table of contents report, which gives an overview over the segments and segment groups used in the message and their semantic usage. A branching diagram which displays the structure in a different view. A segment details report that explains the used segments in detail. A lists report, which lists for each d data element the applicable s within the framework of this implementation guideline. 6 Separating Data in a segment The following table shows the special characters used to separate segment tags, data elements and component data elements of a composite data element; to mark the end of a segment; and to return to its original meaning any character used as a syntactical separator.
