Determine the supply chain needs and challenges of small and medium enterprises in the South African aerospace and defence industries and develop appropriate improvement interventions for them. Determine and quantify the potential effects of deteriorating road conditions on logistics operations and costs in South Africa. Analyse the logistics referral networks of various laboratories of the largest diagnostic pathology service in South Africa. Analyse the logistics and infrastructure cost and requirements for the use and transportation of biomass for electricity generation in South Africa. Benchmark and analyse supply chains in the South African aerospace and defence industries. Investigate and quantify the cost of logistics in the South African aerospace and defence industries. Develop a stock pre-positioning network for disaster management in Southern Africa. Map and analyse South African National Defence Force (SANDF) supply chains. Develop a single logistics process for the SANDF based on the SCOR (Supply Chain Operations Reference) model. Develop a methodology to test the robustness of SANDF supply chains. Develop an optimisation model to aid in inventory management amidst demand uncertainty due to extreme events.
