3 F o r e s t products Close to 3 million tonnes of forest products pass through the Port of Zeebrugge every year. The ultra-modern terminals are highly automated; emphasis is placed on productivity, efficiency and innovation. Their logistics services are characterised by a superior quality that can only be achieved by a dedicated, specialised work force. Once the paper products reach the terminals they are distributed all over Europe via train, lorry and barge or are shipped overseas by container or conventional vessels. They ship paper products from Norway via short-sea shipping to the Port of Zeebrugge as well as by rail and road from Germany and Austria. In the Port of Zeebrugge, these volumes are combined with other products at the PSA Zeebrugge terminal and shipped by the company Spliethoff to a.o. Philadelphia in the United States. Investment possibilities The Port of Zeebrugge is open for new investments. This is proven by the new forest & steel products terminal of Verbrugge International. This new investment comprises 2 new 21,000 m2 warehouses. The terminal is located alongside the CSP container terminal, which provides synergy opportunities for the stuffing & stripping of containers.
