The civil works contractor for Lots 1 and 2 on the E-80 commenced work in April 2010and has made good progress on the Dimitrovgrad Bypass in clearing the site, constructing the access roads, and commencing earthworks and the construction of the structures (bridges and culverts). 2 Report : ISR1437 However, some procurement activities, including the tunnels (Lot 3) on the E-80 and the works on the E-75, the consultant supervision of the civil works on the E-80, and the procurement of consultants to undertake independent supervision of the social and environmental aspects on both the E-80 and the E-75, have fallen behind, markedly in some cases, the originally agreed schedule. The Bank team impressed on counterparts the importance of staying on schedule from this point, and ensuring that all outstanding works contracts, on both the E-80 and the E-75, are signed as early as possible in the next construction season.
