22 Environmental Requirements Press Storage Environment Requirements The following data assumes that the Scodix Ultra Press is stored in its original crate: Storage Environment Temperature Relative Humidity Description 5 C to 35 C (41 F to 95 F) 50% to 80% relative humidity, non-condensing The Scodix Ultra Press should not be stored for longer than one month in an environment with a relative humidity greater than 60%. Make sure you have storage space for the following items: PolySENSE: The PolySENSE container should be stored under the following conditions: Store the PolySENSE in an environment below 35 C (95 F). Avoid direct sunlight, UV radiation and strong oxidizers. Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Store in a place that is only accessible by authorized personnel. Keep out of reach of children. Only store PolySENSE in the original HDPE container. Never mix liquids from one container with that from another. Do not store near inert gas, such as nitrogen. Keep the container away from oxidizing materials, acids and bases. Spare Parts: Ensure that a proper place in a controlled environment is available for spare parts, such as electronics boards, print heads and hardware. Paper (Printed Jobs): Protect paper from direct sunlight. In order to avoid moisture absorption, store the paper on shelves, pallets or in cabinets and not directly on the floor. Temperature and humidity are critical factors. A minimum temperature of 15 C (50 F) with 30% relative humidity should be maintained. A maximum temperature of 27.2 C (81 F) with 85% relative humidity should be maintained. Most environments with air conditioning systems provide the proper mix of temperature and humidity. For optimal results, coated paper should be stored a minimum of 48 hours in standard conditions before production. Important: It is highly recommended to use a humidifier in the Paper storage room, in very low humidity environments. Scodix Ultra Press Site Preparation Guide (DBK ) Environmental Requirements 21 of 26

23 Working Environment Requirements The Scodix Ultra Press functions normally in a typical controlled print shop environment. The area in which the Scodix Ultra Press is installed should be reasonably free of dust and other airborne particles. Dust and particles can damage the Print Heads and affect the printing quality. The Press should not be installed near equipment that produces strong radio frequency interference. The Press should not be installed near equipment that produces strong mechanical impact. Excessive vibrations generated by heavy machinery, such as shears or punchers, may affect print quality and should not be in the operating environment of the Scodix Ultra Press. Working Environment Operation conditions temperature and humidity Power-off conditions temperature and humidity External exhaust, air evacuation Description 15 C to 30 C (59 F to 86 F) 40% to 80% relative humidity, non-condensing 10 C to 35 C (50 F to 95 F) 20% to 80% relative humidity See the Ventilation section on page 23. Illumination Requirements Do not install the Scodix Ultra Press in an area exposed to direct sun light. Waste Disposal Requirements Dispose of the consumables and cleaning materials that you use in accordance with applicable regulations. Consult with your local authorities to determine the correct manner in which to dispose wastes, including the following wastes: Liquid from the printing heads cleaning station. Polymer should be disposed of as chemical waste according to local regulations. For more details, refer to the MSDS document for varnish material. Noise Level Requirements When all service doors and covers on the Scodix Ultra Press are closed, the operator is exposed to an effective maximum of 83 db of noise. The operator is required to wear Ear Protection. Scodix Ultra Press Site Preparation Guide (DBK ) Working Environment Requirements 22 of 26

24 Ventilation Requirements For proper ventilation of the Scodix Ultra Press site, 6 air-room cycles per hour are required. Heat emission reaches a maximum of 10 kilowatts power during production. If the site requires, (or Scodix recommends), hot air evacuation from the press, the customer can install an additional exhaust pipe above the press. There are two options: 1. Option # 1 - Without additional suction fan: This is relevant when the press is installed near to the external wall. The customer can install (for themselves), a flexible exhaust pipe with a diameter of 6'', with a length of up to 5 meters, and can include only one 90 degrees elbow. If a ridged Exhaust pipe is used then the length can be up to 6.5 meters. 2. Option # 2 With additional suction fan: This is relevant when the press is installed far from the external wall. The customer can install (for themselves), a longer exhaust pipe connected to an additional suction fan, or connected to the plant extraction system, according to the following specification: 1. The exhaust pipe should have a diameter of 6'' (to match the 6'' diameter of the press exhaust flange). 2. The working flow rate should be 700 CFM. 3. The suction pressure should be ~ 2000 Pa at the press exhaust flange. Figure 1: Non operator side view - Exhaust pipe with 6 flange Exhaust flange (6'' diameter) Stacker Exhaust pipe Additional Items Provided The following items are provided with the Scodix Ultra Press: # Description Quantity Unit 1 Clean room wipers 1 Package 2 Scodix PolySENSE 20 Kg 3 Cleaning fluid bottle 1 Bottle 4 Nitrile gloves 1 Package 5 Waste bottle and cork 3 6 Protective glasses 1 1 Scodix Ultra Press Site Preparation Guide (DBK ) Working Environment Requirements 23 of 26
