3 RACO COMBINES PROCESSES AND THEIR MONITORING FOR QUALITY ASSURANCE Decisive criterion for the use of an automated assembly and production system is profitability, which depends to a major extent on the output quantity of conform parts. Great efficiency is achieved by integration the testing process in the manufacturing workflow. Manufacturing steps such as insertion, removal or jointing of parts with defined force-path curves can be realised easily using a RACO sensor cylinder. Both tasks, i.e. jointing and simultaneous monitoring of the assembly process are thus combined in one functional unit under the aspect of cost-effectiveness. The integrated force sensor makes both finely measured, defined force development and limitation of force on the sensor cylinder possible! 4 RACO Schwelm RACO OFFERS ONE-STOP-SHOPPING FOR SYSTEM SOLUTIONS RACO electric cylinders (Elektrozylinder ) are used in numerous monitoring and testing systems to check the behaviour and specific characteristics of materials. For this purpose, the components are subject to different loads and load cycles are simulated within optimised times. This enables component quality faults and weaknesses to be determined at an early stage in product development and testing. On the basis of the reference values determined, process safety on the production line can be improved in the long term. Depending on the particular task, the electric cylinder has to carry out linear movements which are speed, position or force-controlled. In addition to speed-controlled feed, the RACO positioning motor or a synchronised servo motor is used to realise a position-controlled or force-controlled linear movement. Direct measurement of the force takes place in the push-pull unit of the electric cylinder. Depending on the particular version, the load measuring cell is mounted on the fork head or in the bearing casing.
