1 MAINTENANCE/TECHNICAL UPPRT JB UMMARY Under the general supervision of the department manager, clean, maintain and secure assigned classrooms, buildings and grounds so as to provide attractive, sanitary, safe and secure facilities for students, staff and the general public; provide technical support for telecommunication systems and equipment; and do other related work as required. REQUIRED QUALIICATIN Knowledge of: Modern cleaning, repair and maintenance methods required for custodial and grounds-keeping work; afe usage, proper care and operational procedures for materials, supplies, tools and equipment associated with custodial and grounds-keeping duties; Proper safety practices, precautions, work methods and lifting techniques for usage in custodial and grounds-keeping activities; perational procedures and maintenance requirements of telecommunication systems and equipment; Basic record-keeping techniques; Accepted safety standards, practices and procedures of the industry, including ccupational afety and Health Administration (HA) and Cal-HA guidelines and requirements, and strategies and practices for work place safety in an outdoor environment. Ability to: Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with children and adults contacted in the course of work; Perform moderately medium to heavy manual activities; afely, efficiently and effectively use and operate a variety of supplies, materials, tools and equipment; Learn and master new methods and techniques for use in custodial and grounds-keeping work; Understand, carry out, and communicate oral and written directions; Effectively use and instruct others in the safe and proper usage of telecommunications systems and equipment; Keep records and communicate effectively in both oral and written forms; bserve and immediately report safety hazards and needs for maintenance and repair; ollow a set schedule and perform simple, repetitive tasks with minimal supervision; Be flexible and receptive to change; Attend in-service training, conferences and meetings, as assigned, with compensation if overtime is required. Education and Experience: High chool Diploma, equivalent, or certificate of completion is required. Any combination of education, training and experience to provide the required knowledge and abilities listed above. License, Certificate and Testing Requirements: Possess a valid California driver license and maintain insurability. 2 EENTIAL DUTIE As assigned, properly and safely utilize a variety of custodial tools, supplies and equipment to sweep, scrub, mop, buff, wax, polish, scrape, refinish, seal, repair, vacuum, spot clean and shampoo floors, rugs and carpets; Empty, clean, disinfect and line trash receptacles; report any which are missing, damaged or vandalized; As instructed, clean, disinfect, dust, polish, move, assemble, adjust, make minor repairs and replace furniture, fixtures, equipment, walls, wood work, doors, door frames, windows, window sills, window coverings, chalk boards, chalk trays, white boards, bulletin boards, room dividers, storage bins; counters, sinks, mirrors, drinking fountains and bathroom fixtures, re-stock paper and soap supplies; Assure security of facilities and safety of students and staff during assigned hours; secure and lock gates, doors, windows, cabinets, equipment and vehicles; set security systems; report all health, safety and security hazards and concerns; Remove paper, trash and debris from grounds, walkways, parking areas, entrances and buildings; Perform routine grounds-keeping tasks, as assigned, which may include the use of equipment and involve mowing, edging, weeding, pruning, trimming and watering of lawns, flowerbeds and shrubs; Respond to emergency safety or operational concerns resulting from illness, breakage, spillage, vandalism, equipment malfunction, etc.; Assist in ordering, receiving, inventory maintenance and proper storage of supplies and materials used in custodial and grounds-keeping activities; Maintain the multi-line telephone system, coordinate maintenance and repair activities with service providers, assist and instruct users, as needed; Provide technical support in the operation of, and training of operators for, the main office computerized messaging system, and the satellite television system; Perform other related duties, as assigned.
