Ship Communications Aligning with e-navigation The Five Proposed Solutions from e-navigation Improved, harmonized and userfriendly bridge design; Improved reliability, resilience and integrity of bridge equipment and navigation information; Means for standardized and automated reporting; Integration and presentation of available information in graphical displays received via communication equipment; and Improved Communication of VTS Service Portfolio Global high-speed broadband May-14 Takis Katsoulakos - Collaboration in Shipping 10

The e-maritime Strategic Framework (EMSF) Roles Reference processes Standard messages The EMSF is based upon: a set of clearly defined roles that describe responsibilities and functions; a set of reference processes that demonstrate collaboration in e- shipping operations and end to end transport chains; and a set of standardised messages that define the information that should be communicated between parties in order to: o Manage ship and fleet operation o Plan, execute and complete multimodal transport May-14 Takis Katsoulakos - Collaboration in Shipping 12

EMSF Messages May-14 Takis Katsoulakos - Collaboration in Shipping 14

emar Ecosystems Business Ecosystem for shipping collaboration : business communities producing and consuming services and exchanging information compliant with the EMSF messages, and Technology Ecosystem enabling shipping collaboration: semantically enhanced ICT infrastructure supporting interoperability and cooperation between software services, enterprise systems and intelligent objects. BUSINESS ECOSYSTEM DIGITAL ECOSYSTEM (APPLICATIONS, COMMON INFRASTRUCTURE, SERVICES, ) May-14 Takis Katsoulakos - Collaboration in Shipping 15

emar ecosystem The emar Ecosystem comprises of Solutions and Infrastructure which: Support the interoperability and cooperation between the participants of the emar Business Ecosystem, Transform Business Processes to emar Software Services accessible through Internet (SOA) Provide entry points (Access Points) to the emar Business Participants to connect and transact Uses a Common set of EMSF Messages which are exchanged between the emar Business Participants for efficient, and unambiguous communications. May-14 Takis Katsoulakos - Collaboration in Shipping 16

Connectivity Infrastructure Access Points are main entry point to Technology Ecosystem and provides controlled access to software services. Access Points are configured according to standard message profiles (TSD, CRS, emar messages..) defined within a business community. They include interfaces to connect with services or other Access points to consume other services and retrieve data. May-14 Takis Katsoulakos - Collaboration in Shipping 17

Collaboration in Shipping The emar Collaboration Platforms May-14 Takis Katsoulakos - Collaboration in Shipping 18

emaritime collaboration platforms e-maritime Strategic Framework (EMSF) and Related Standards emaritime Collaboration Platform emaritime Collaboration Platform emaritime Inlecom Collaboration Platform emaritime Network May-14 Takis Katsoulakos - Collaboration in Shipping 19

emaritime collaboration platforms The DANAOS and INLECOM Platforms are interoperable through EMSF Different content and implementation strategy Joining one you have access to both and future additional emaritime platforms open secure Self sustainable comprehensive May-14 Takis Katsoulakos - Collaboration in Shipping 20

The Inlecom emar Collaboration Platform and Portal - InleMar May-14 22

InleMAR ecosystem participants (users) Maritime data and application Service Providers that publish their services in the Ecosystem Service Developers that use InleMAR tools to produce composite (value added) services Maritime Service Consumers that use any service to support their day to day activities May-14 Takis Katsoulakos - Collaboration in Shipping 23

InleMAR user options Service Providers make services accessible through Access Points, easy to connect once and speak with all, and inheriting common services such as security and notification or exposed as a web services connection through access points of preconfigured semantics and characteristics, transparently from the developer / end user. Once the application is registered in the Ecosystem, a user interface is made available in the portal, accessible from all users Custom interfaces (dashboards) are available and configurable by each type of user May-14 Takis Katsoulakos - Collaboration in Shipping 24

Collaboration in Shipping Concluding Remarks May-14 Takis Katsoulakos - Collaboration in Shipping 25

emar vision for a connected shipping world May-14 Takis Katsoulakos - Collaboration in Shipping 26

We are at the start of a new era of ICT in shipping For the first time interoperability in shipping software is a realistic prospect emar provides a powerful and evolving business-ready servicesoriented infrastructure empowering the European maritime sector in offering greener, safer and efficient shipping services May-14 Takis Katsoulakos - Collaboration in Shipping 27
