4 AFFORDABLE MILK ANALYSIS SET TO IMPACT THE SOUTH AFRICAN DAIRY INDUSTRY IN 2016 In 2015 Ronin began negotiations with Milktronic to distribute their range of affordable, accurate and easily maintained Lactoscan milk analysers in South Africa. This year we are launching these products into the market and we expect these instruments to make a big splash in the South African Dairy Industry. But first an introduction to the manufacturer. Milkotronic is a Bulgarian based manufacturer that offers a series of user-friendly, rapid analysers which can be applied for the measurement of fat (FAT), solids non-fat (SNF), density, proteins, lactose, salts, water content percentages, temperature ( C), freezing point, ph, conductivity, as well as total solids of one and the same sample directly after milking, at collecting and during processing. The companies new generation range of ultrasonic milk analysers; the Lactoscan, is causing a small revolution in dairy industries world wide. Why? Simply because they are affordable, accurate, low maintenance and mobile. A 12 V adapter means that milk analysis can be moved on to the milk collection trucks. Minimal power consumption and lack of consumables further help to make the Lactoscan range even more attractive to dairy producers, processors and distributors world wide. Lactoscan milk analysers can be used on dairy farms, at various dairy enterprises, at milk selection centres and in laboratories. Contact Ronin today to find out more about or to purchase a Lactoscan Analyser. PAGE 1

5 AIMS TAKING OFF Ronin Inventory Management is currently engaged in the research and development phase of a bulk stock volume surveying solution that delivers fast and accurate results in a fraction of the time required by our own standard AIMS moment in time volume survey solution and other traditional surveying techniques. Some trial and error was required before achieving this feat of time compression but eventually the combination of a UAV with an 4K on-board camera, 3rd party software & our own proprietary AIMS application delivered the high level of accuracy and speed that was the projects goal. The AIMS UAV solution works simply as follows. The 4K camera on board the UAV sources video and images as it passes over stock piles along a GPS determined vector. This digital image data is processed by 3rd party software to create a 3D representation of an individual stock pile, multiple stock piles or the whole storage yard. Though the 3rd party software delivers reasonably reliable surface maps these did not prove sufficient for accurate volume calculations. Only the highest level of accuracy is acceptable in order to ensure that the resulting AIMS audit report delivers value of investment to the client as a reliable reference method. This benchmark accuracy is achieved by importing the surface maps into our own AIMS application where the mathemagics happens. Ronin s proprietary AIMS application was originally developed as the 3D data processing element of a bulk commodity volume verification solution also branded AIMS. This solution consisted out of a laptop mounted on a tripod with a laser measuring device fixed at the top. An AIMS auditor manually directs the laser devise to source surface data points which the AIMS application installed on the laptop utilizes to create a point cloud. AIMS then processes this point cloud by incorporating boundaries, removing spikes and introducing floor elevation as well as inclination to deliver a full 3D surface map. This processed surface map allows AIMS to calculate accurate volumes. AIMS software was later also incorporated into Ronin s Art+ and Artemis permanently installed solutions to allow for 3D data processing of scan cycles. Despite both the UAV and third party software being essential elements to the AIMS UAV solution neither would have value without the programming ingenuity hidden under the hood of the AIMS application, simply because AIMS delivers accuracy. 6 PROJECT WATER DROP On the 26th of January 2016 a convoy of 5 Ronin vehicles, loaded with approximately 4000 litres of water, headed for the town of Vryburg in the North West Province for Project Water Drop. Simultaneously the Jackaranda Water Drop project had about 2 million litres of water heading for Lichtenburg. They certainly required no further assistance with their main drive but when we contacted them they indicated that if we still wish to assist we should head for the town of Vryburg that also had reported water shortages. Upon arrival in Vryburg we headed for the local Pick & Pay where we handed out the 2 litre & 5 litre bottles we had on board. After about two hours on location we realised that it was not the human population hardest hit by the drought but rather the animals of the area. Furthermore the human need was also being taken care of by the local Pick & Pay s own in-store water drive, so we decided to change focus. We made a few phone calls to farmers in the area and was pointed in the direction of the local (Leon Taljaard) game reserve that at the time experienced a critical water shortage. We contacted the reserve and made arrangements to visit the next day. In comparison to the main water drive managed by Jackaranda stereo our effort was not even a drop in the ocean but at least, for the next few days, these animals will not have to go thirsty. PAGE 3

CRACK SURVEY TEAM BREAKING RECORDS From the 22nd to the 24th of December 2015 the Ronin IMS surveying unit depicted here completed a company record breaking 1,4 million ton bulk volume survey across 27 stock piles over two days. This breaks the previous record of 6 stock piles totalling tons surveyed in one day. The team was lead by the legend maker Desmond Hayward, general manager of Ronin IMS. Congratulations on a job well done! PAGE 8
