3 About us Eurofork S.r.l., founded in year 2000, is an Italian company which produces automatic handling systems. With its over 20 years of know-how gained in the handling field, Eurofork today is one of the leading players on the global market concerning the production of handling devices, for both number of units produced and for its turnover. In addition to Telescopic forks division, the company boasts two other areas: Service department that deals with after sales assistance, maintenance, and selling of spare parts, and ESMARTSHUTTLE division, specialized in the design and manufacture of shuttle systems for multi depth automated warehouses. 8 Warehouse elevators Elevators are integrant part of warehouses used to change pallets level, but can also be used by ESMARTSHUTTLE to change its working level. ESMARTSHUTTLE works with any kind of third party elevator that meets specified requirements. Depending on the project layout, one or more of the following are applied: Simple frame elevator: used by Eshuttle to move among levels Conveyors frame elevator: used to handle 1 to 3 pallets and/or ESMARTSHUTTLE, in case of limited throughput Pallet elevators: used to handle pallets only. It is indicated in case of heavy throughput demand and/or 1 ESMARTSHUTTLE per level 6

9 Management Eurofork has created a specific WCS (Warehouse Control System) to make the System Integrator comfortable with ESMARTSHUTTLE machines. This assure a fast start-up with very limited integration activities. WCS completely controls ESMARTSHUTTLE machines (including battery management). WCS software enables warehouse start-up in 5 easy steps: 1 Eshuttles and Esatellites are introduced in the rack (with datamatrix tapes already installed). Even one single machine is enough to start working in presence of a lifter 2 Mapping sensor kit is mounted on-board machine. Those sensors are needed only at the first start-up of the warehouse 3 Basic warehouse data (levels and columns number) are written in the PC HMI (Human Machine Interface). This step requires a limited time to be done. 4 Warehouse mapping is automatically done by the machines: once covered the whole warehouse, synoptic layout is created with zero programming 5 System Integrator WMS MISSION MISSION RESULT Eurofork WCS MISSION WCS service is launched and machines are ready to perform missions MISSION RESULT Eurofork ESMARTSHUTTLE WCS is developed with Microsoft.NET Framework, but it can also exchange data with Unix/Linux systems. 7

10 WCS Light WCS Light is an order executor : it creates the sequences of micro-missions to complete the tasks received by the upper level software (position A to position B movement). WCS Light manages the eventual traffic issues caused by ESMARTSHUTTLE level change needs, leaving System Integrator the sole duty of optimization and storage efficiency. WCS always comes with an Host module, to customize the data exchange with the upper level software. Synoptic 2D layout and basic Human-Machine Interfaces complete the supply of this option. WCS Plus WCS Plus is the decision maker of the warehouse: it gets only PutAway/Retrieve lists from the upper level software, then optimization and storage efficiency are automatically managed. With this option every position and destination in the warehouse is under WCS control. Customized Host, Synoptic 2D layout and Human-Machine Interfaces are included in this scope. To complete the management options range, the following library enable System Integrators to manage ESMARTSHUTTLE machines as their developers would prefer. 8

11 SDK (Software Development Kit) It is a library of all elementary (micro) missions that each machine can perform (library created for.net Framework development environment). The System Integrator manages the individual machines through an object-oriented programming. Sequences of missions are also available to facilitate the execution of standard movements (i.e. retrieve a pallet from the rack). In this option, technical specifications are given to support the System Integrator in its complete software management job. The PLC software and the Operator Panel are always supplied by Eurofork in all the above mentioned three options. 12 Maintenance The goal of ESMARTSHUTTLE system is to reduce the maintenance time. A strategic control cabinet has been designed for a fast and easy replacement: the removed cabinet can be conveniently checked and/or fixed outside the warehouse. The maintenance and recovery kit can be used to reach the ESMARTSHUTTLE machines: it is composed by one manual Eshuttle cart and one manual Esatellite cart that are driven with the operator s brawn. Each ESMARTSHUTTLE machine can be electrically moved using a joystick for maintenance operations which need to be plugged in the proper socket onboard. 10
