2 NO 2 OF 2010 Hydrant Covers All Quays & Operational Areas Please be advised; following the use of fresh water on all quays and operational areas, hydrant covers are to be closed and secured immediately after use. If a hydrant cover has been noted as open, please report to Port Operations or Belfast Harbour Police (out of hours). Port Operations: Belfast Harbour Police: th January 2010

3 NO 3 OF 2013 HV Cable Pit Protection Sinclair Wharf HV cable pit protection barriers located on Sinclair Wharf north prevent vehicles from transiting over the HV cable chamber. This is a weakened area of the quay. The protection barriers are placed at each corner of the yellow box painted on Sinclair Wharf north and are to remain in position at all times. 10 th January 2013

4 NO 5 OF 2013 Speed Limit Port Operational Areas Traffic must adhere to the speed limit of 10 miles per hour on all quays. Vehicles not equipped with beacons must operate their hazard warning lights. 4 th February 2013

5 NO 7 OF 2013 Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on BHC Quays and Port Operational Areas Please be reminded that anyone entering a BHC quay or port operational area must wear the appropriate PPE in accordance with the safety signage provided or as instructed by Port Operations. As a minimum PPE should consist of Safety shoes or boots Hi-visibility vest or jacket Hard hat All drivers who disembark from their cabs whilst on the quays or within port operational areas must wear PPE.

6 Failure to comply may be regarded as an offence under the Health & Safety at Work Order (NI) 1978 and the Personal Protective Equipment Regulations (NI) The correct use of PPE forms an integral part of a Safe System of Work. Failure to comply will result in work being stopped until a Safe System of Work is in place. 14 th February 2013

7 NO 8 OF 2013 Use of Crane Grabs Stevedores using BHC Crane grabs are advised the grabs should be placed into an adjacent hopper or alternatively left resting at ground level upon completion of operations. 28 th February 2013

8 NO 11 OF 2013 FIRE EXIT DOORS / ESCAPE ROUTES ON HARBOUR PREMISES All Tenants, Occupiers and Users of Belfast Harbour Commissioners Premises including Offices, Warehouses, Workshops, Cranes and Sheds are reminded that ALL FIRE EXITS AND ESCAPE ROUTES MUST BE KEPT CLEAR AT ALL TIMES. All users of these facilities have statutory duties under the Health and Safety at Work Order (N.I.) 1978 to ensure that safe access and egress from these facilities is available at all times. Belfast Harbour Commissioners reserve the right to instruct facility users to remove obstructions at the user s cost. 20 th March 2013

9 No 18 of 2013 HGV/ Bulk Transport Requirements in Port Operational Areas Please be advised HGV/Bulk Transport working within port operational areas and/or partaking in cargo operations within the estate meet the following requirements HGV/Bulk Transport must be fit for purpose and in road worthy condition. Bulk trailers must be fit for purpose and in road worthy condition, free of leaking cargo to prevent fouling within port operational areas and the within Belfast Harbour estate. Bulk trailers must not be overfilled. Bulk trailers must be sheeted for appropriate dusty cargos. Sheeting must take place on the quay at a safe point nearest to loading area or otherwise specified by Port Operations HGV/Bulk Transport operators are responsible for their vehicles. Operators will be held accountable for any defects noted. Failure to comply with the

10 above requirements may result in the exclusion from operations until such time defects are repaired. Port Operations in conjunction with Belfast Harbour Police will be conducting operations in the coming months to monitor and advise port users of requirements. 13th May 2013

11 No 22 of 2013 Access Doors Cranes 90 and 92 Users of Cranes 90 and 92 are advised that all access doors to these cranes MUST be kept closed at all times to ensure positive pressure remains within the crane. Failure to close these access doors is creating additional maintenance issues with contaminated filters and the build up of dust and dirt within the workings of the crane. 1 st July 2013

12 No 27 of 2013 York Dock One Way traffic route A new one-way traffic route will be implemented from Monday 4 th November in accordance with the attached plan. Traffic required to access the hatched area are reminded that the following Traffic prioritisation rules are in place. a) Crane movement has priority over all other movements. b) Forklift movements have priority over all other vehicular traffic. 4 th November 2013

13 NO 2 OF 2014 Stormont, Sinclair and Gotto Wharves Exposed High Voltage Cabling It is noted that on occasions the High Voltage Cabling for the rail mounted cranes has been exposed out of the panzer belt. If this is observed, Port Users must cease operations in the vicinity of the exposed cable and immediately inform Operations Engineering via Port Operations for rectification. Callout of Operations Engineering staff out of office hours can be arranged by the Belfast Harbour Police. 20 h January 2014
