3 THE DIRECT-IT (UAA2) USAGE The newly designed Direct-It, now works with axial fans, air scrubbers or other collared drying devices that fit duct ring sizes of 12, 14, 16 & 18. The adapter can be attached to dry either positively or negatively. The back of the Direct-It resembles a set of stair steps, and will simply slip into the correct size opening of your drying equipment. READ BEFORE OPERATING or ATTACHING THE ADAPTER SERIOUS PHYSICAL INJURY CAN RESULT FROM FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Wear protective eyewear such as safety glasses when stretching, fastening or releasing hooks. 2. Do not stretch cord more than 50%. (Example 12 to max 18 ). Cords can be stretched more than 50%, but could cause failure of cord or hook & result in serious eye or other injury. 3. Inspect cord before use. Do not use if cord is frayed or hooks are bent or damaged. 4. Cord acts like a rubber band. Do not stretch cord toward or away from you to avoid being struck by hooks. Pull to one side and keep your face and body away from rebound path. HOW TO ATTACH THE DIRECT-IT (UAA2) BUNGEE CORD - The bungee cord allows for the greatest range of movement. Grasp both ends of the cord (the hooks) and pull on them to equalize the cord length on both sides of equipment. Now, extend cord around smaller drying equipment such as axial fans and attach the end hooks to other side of shroud. For attaching to larger drying equipment, pull only on one end of the bungee cord (hook) and then extend cord to accommodate longer odd shaped products. Page 1 of 6

4 HOW TO ATTACH THE DIRECT-IT (UAA2) Step 1. Place the Direct-It in front of the airmoving device to be used (as shown in picture below). Step 2. Insert the Direct-It housing into the ring of the chosen airmoving device.. Step 3. While holding the Direct-It housing, carefully stretch the lower bungee cord around the base of the airmoving device and fasten the cord hook. Step 4. Repeat Step 3. Step 5. We recommend placing the Direct-It and airmoving device in the center of the run to be dried. The hosecuffed ends of the supplied hoses may now be installed on the Direct-It. SIMPLE TO INSTALL * See warning on previous page Page 2 of 6

5 INSTALLATION OF DIRECT-IT It is recommended that the drying device be set up at the center of the drying run. Install in a safe manner. Keep aisles clear and always reduce any unnecessary trip hazards. Set up warnings if trip hazard exists. The Direct-It comes with the following parts: 01 - UAA2 (bungee cord attached) 03-1 ¼ inch Hoses (3 sections of 1 1/4 inch x 50 feet hose) 17-5/8 Wall Penetrators (bagged) /4 Hose Cuffs 01 - CB1 Carry Bag 5/8 WALL PENETRATOR *Redesigned* This part is black in color. It will slide into the end of the 1 1/4 hose or into a 1 1/4 Hose Cuff. The business end of the Penetrator is 5/8. DRILLING HOLES We HIGHLY RECOMMEND using an adjustable drill stop. The depth of drill penetration will be based upon the thickness of material being drilled. The drill should be stopped from penetrating hidden wall components such as electrical wires or plumbing pipes. Use a 11/16 Paddle bit for the 5/8 Wall Penetrator. SUGGESTED HOSE LENGTHS The hose is shipped blank, allowing the technician the freedom to choose whatever lengths make the most sense. Be cautious when cutting the hose with sharp instruments. Always cut away from yourself and not towards anything that you aren t willing to cut - if your hand were to slip.. Put the hose on a surface such as plywood or OSB to avoid damaging surfaces beneath the hose. Extra hoses sections are available for purchase (Item # PL05). CONTAMINATION On all restoration jobs, moving air can disturb dust and particulates. Air filtration devices (AFD's) should be used to control dust, debris and possible mold. Page 3 of 6
