Genesis FE500 Tecan s automation solution for pre-analytical sample handling Compact in size, incredibly big on versatility and performance

Want to automate the most labor-intensive, error-prone procedures without having to invest in Total Laboratory Automation (TLA)? Then relax, our front-end automation workcell Genesis FE500 is what you ve been waiting for. We ve combined the needed flexibility with wanted capability while using a minimum of your laboratory space.

Pre-analytical sample handling for all core departments can now be automated with our Genesis FE500, a modular front-end automation workcell which can be fitted into existing laboratory setup, thus enhancing every aspect of the sample flow. It can be adjusted to handle varying throughput capacities and to accommodate just about any combination of existing analytical equipment and processing strategy in your laboratory. The Genesis FE500 is our solution for automated pre-analytical sample handling as it combines all pre-analytical functions on a compact footprint. The modules performing the pre-analytical tasks can be selected to tailor the FE500 to your needs. Pre-sorting for streamlined workflow and enhanced productivity Sample volume inspection with a totally unique see-through function Centrifugation with user-defined time, temperature, speed and a fully automated loading and unloading feature Decapping for maximum processing safety owing to its unique shielding feature Secondary tube supply with precision printing and labeling of barcodes Aliquoting for user-definable aliquot volumes Destination sorting and sample racking for a multitude of different analyzer racks from all major manufacturers with sorting into as many as 31 separate workgroups By streamlining the laboratory operations, our Genesis FE500 helps you cut overall operating expenses while assuring consistent sample processing, improving the safety of sample handling and expanding your testing capacity. The Genesis FE500.

What makes the Genesis FE500 so special? The tube loading unit of the Genesis FE500 accommodates 80 tubes at one time, presorts samples for processing to streamline workflow and enhance productivity. It has a continuous loading function for optimized processing, accepts primary tubes from major manufacturers and is compatible with common barcodes. Loading interface where tubes are introduced to the system. Our tube inspection unit in the Genesis FE500 is not only capable of scanning the tubes for reliable identification of different separation layers, it comes with a unique see-through capability: its built-in optical beam can penetrate the depth of up to three layers of labels which may overlap each other on any given tube, thus still identifying the different separation layers. This means that barcode labels on a tube will not be able to obstruct the laser beam s view. Separation layer detection through barcode label by laser beam. The fully automated centrifuge allows the integration of this process into the preanalytical workflow. Samples are automatically balanced as well as loaded and unloaded from the centrifuge below the deck. Hematology samples bypass the centrifuge and are directly loaded onto the conveyor system. Time, temperature and speed of the centrifuge are user-defined to ensure sample integrity and to provide a flexible treatment of special samples such as platelet-poor plasma. Centrifuge-loading process from the worktable. Easily accessible centrifuge.

The FE500 s dual-lane conveyor system provides continuous identification through barcode and carrier ID numbers, thus eliminating manual transportation of samples within the pre-analytical area. The single-tube tracking feature enables the operator to bypass unneeded functions. The dual-lane conveyor belt forwards tubes to the individual processing stations. By scanning the tube carriers the gate controlers optimize traffic at each station. The Genesis FE500 s decapper accepts standard and screw caps and is compatible with primary tubes from major manufacturers. The tubes are moved away from the track before decapping, to ensure maximum safety. The tube is surrounded with stainless steel casing to minimize contamination and infection hazards. Shielded decapping process to prevent contamination.

The secondary tube supply comes with a thermotransfer printer assuring high-quality, long-lasting labels. Secondary tube barcode labels are customizable with up to ten readable text fields. Pre-packaged disposable refills enable you to refill in one easy step and without having to disrupt the process. Three individual secondary tube drawers allowing refill during process. The aliquoter has primary and secondary barcode label verification which is performed before aliquoting, thus assuring positive sample identification. A flexible software lets operators assign priorities to the aliquoter function based on the urgency of tests. Aliquot volumes are user-definable to meet your specific needs. To assure downstream productivity, serum volume and clot detection* is performed. Sample distribution to the correlating secondary tubes. * For more details about clot detection refer to the good usage guide (Doc. no )

The sample racking feature is an open-system concept: the Genesis FE500 will sort into as many as 31 separate workgroups using a multitude of analyzer racks from different vendors. The worktable is completely configurable for optimized workflow mapping. Open system configurable to multiple racks. The software provides real time feedback on all modules with its intuitive GUI that offers on-line help, and local language translation. All important information is displayed on one screen and gives you real-time feedback on every function. Graphical user interface with real time status of modules, disposables and worktable layout. The Genesis FE500 will give you years of reliable service owing to its sturdy design and construction. It comes as close to Total Laboratory Automation (TLA) as is possible with improved return of investment. And of course, Tecan is always near you wherever you are.
