ENTERING THE DANGER ZONE 3

OVERVIEW History of OCWR s Drone Operations Upgrades in Drone Technology FAA Operating Rules FAA Remote Pilot Test OCWR Insights Pix4D Mapping Software Flight Control Apps Q&A 4

OCWR S FIRST DRONE First small Unmanned Aircraft System (suas) purchased by OCWR was initially intended for bird abatement Quickly evolved to being used for recon to give landfill staff a current aerial view of a project site 5

UPGRADES IN DRONE TECHNOLOGY Improved battery technology increasing flight times Camera Upgrades Radar Positioning & Return Home Gyro Stabilization, IMU And Flight Controllers Drone Motor Direction And Propeller Design Onscreen Real-Time Flight Parameters No Fly Zone Drone Technology Receive alerts and warning on controller GPS Ready To Fly Mode Drone Technology Internal Compass & Failsafe Function Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) Remote Control System These are only few innovations among many that have changed the drone industry 6

Part 107 Operating Rules Unmanned aircraft must weigh less than 55 pounds, including payload, at takeoff Fly in Class G airspace* Keep the unmanned aircraft within visual line-of-sight* Fly at or below 400 feet* Fly during daylight or civil twilight* Fly at or under 100 mph* Yield right of way to manned aircraft* Do not fly directly over people* (The term "over" refers to the flight of the small unmanned aircraft directly over any part of a person.) *These rules are subject to waiver. 7

FAA REMOTE PILOT TEST The FAA Remote Pilot Knowledge Test consist of a computer base multiple choice test Must be renewed every 2 years Test covers 12 separate topics relating to drone flight 1. Applicable Regulations 2. Airspace Classification, Operating Requirements, and Flight Restrictions 3. Aviation Weather Sources and Effects of Weather on Small Unmanned Aircraft Performance 4. Small Unmanned Aircraft Loading 5. Emergency Procedures 8

FAA REMOTE PILOT TEST Drone topics continued: 6. Crew Resource Management 7. Radio Communication Procedures 8. Determining the Performance of Small Unmanned Aircraft 9. Physiological Factors (Including Drugs and Alcohol) Affecting Pilot Performance 10.Aeronautical Decision-Making and Judgment 11.Airport Operations 12.Maintenance and Preflight Inspection Procedures *Additional information can be found at 9

OCWR DRONE OC Waste & Recycling Purchased a DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 drone for its new program Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 advantages: superior battery life for over drone on the market Obstacle avoidance sensors Camera Resolution (4K camera included) Reduced operating noise Average flight time with the Pix4D Capture app is approximately 25 minutes 10

PIX4D SOFTWARE/APP Pix4D software is intuitive and easy to use Pix4D outputs: 3D Point Cloud Digital Surface & Terrain Models Orthomosiac Volume Calculation Contour Lines 3D Textured Model Thermography 11

OCWR DRONE EXPERIENCES/RESULTS Operations Safely monitor areas inaccessible by foot or smaller vehicles Ability to track cover usage and obtain realtime construction quantities Perform aerial surveys and imaging in-house Reduced turn-around time Increased accuracy Enhance bid walks with aerial overview photos and videos 19

QUESTIONS How much is the license? Does it expire? Are there education requirements? How do you deal with no-fly over zones? We ve heard of waivers, are they hard to apply for? Are you using drones to do annual fly overs and would your regulator (LEA) need a particular program or computer capacity to view such files? What are the different ways you have used drones? Have you come across any operational or legal issues that you didn t anticipate that you can share, i.e. lesson learn with using new technology? 20
