1 MONTHLY CONTAINER TRADE REPORT - Overseas Containers MONTHLY OVERSEAS CONTAINER TRADE UPDATE: FEBRUARY 216 Overseas container trade February 216 Full overseas container imports Full overseas container exports Empty overseas container imports Empty overseas container exports overseas containers 1.1%.7% 26.7% 26.4% 1.% 93,11 55,558 4,15 35,69 187,834 overseas container throughput (full + empty) for February was 187,834, this was an increase of 1.% over February 215. (full + empty) overseas container imports for the month were up by 1.7% while total (full + empty) overseas container exports were also up by 9.3% in comparison to February 215. It is worth noting that there was one additional trading day compared to February last year due to 216 being a leap year. Full overseas container imports were 93,11, an increase of 1.1% against February last year. Several commodities posted monthly increases included clothing, textiles, vehicle parts, metal manufactures, glass & glassware, chemical products, domestic appliances and zinc. Commodities with the most notable declines were miscellaneous manufactures, beer, timber and chemicals. Full overseas container exports were 55,558 for February 216 which was up.7% against February 215. Several commodities recorded gains for the month including timber, zinc, fresh fruit, paperboards, raw cotton and chemical products. Commodities with the most notable declines were wheat, barley, meat, milk powder and scrap metal. Empty overseas container movements for February increased 26.4% over the same period last year to 39,175. Empty overseas exports increased 26.4% for the month, while empty overseas imports also rose by 26.7% against February 215.
