Explosive cargo currently discharged at Matadi Port provided pre-advice to Harbour master. NOTE 2 : Matadi 5,6,7 theorically allocated to PC vessels but due to current lasting congestion, these berths are indiscriminatelly allocated to all vessels calling Matadi. NOTE 3 : Berth 9 : Now used for general cargo vessels. Up to now, the official authorized draught remains at high water but due to recent decrease of the Congo river, draught recommended is 21'00" high tide, fresh water and could change at short notice due to seasonal variations. All berths are available for containers if necessary / ISPS : Level 1 / Weather : Heavy thunderstorms and torrential rains fall during rainy season : Mid-October to Mid-May / State owned stevedoring.

The river can be entered directly from the sea in deep water. Transit time from Banana to Boma is approximately four hours depending on river current and ship's speed. Boma port is located on portside of Congo river. ISPS : Level 1 / Weather : Heavy thunderstorms and torrential rains fall during rainy season : Mid-October to Mid-May / State owned stevedoring.

Cranes are operated by state stevedoring company and are restricted to 3 T maximum.

The vessel up to 140 m LOA may be accomodated provided pilot grants approval ( basis case to case ). Possession of bowthruster is compulsory for any vessel calling Banana commercial wharf. Water density : Banana Cial Wharf and Banana River : Low tide : High tide : / Banana Terminal : on the surface (2m) due to Congo river current below the surface. ISPS : Level 1 / Weather : Rainy season from Oct 15 to May 15. During rainfall, all harbour activity ceases.
