2 Characteristics of the metropolitan area (PID area of interest) Prague - area 496 km 2 population 1.25 mil. Prague transport region includes a part of the Central Bohemian Region surrounding the city, particularly the entire area of districts Prague-East and Prague-West and parts of adjacent districts - the boundary is defined by an area reaching km from the centre - population outside Prague - approx. 0.5 mil.

4 Basic principles, targets and objectives of Prague integrated transport: Uniform regional transport system based on a preference of backbone rail transport (railway, metro and trams), bus transport is organized particularly as a follow-up transport to terminals established next to rail transport stops and stations, including also P+R facilities Uniform transfer tariff system enabling to travel with all necessary changes using one ticket only 1 Tariff, 1 Ticket, 1 Timetable, 1 Network
5 Information on PTA organization Type of organization: municipal contributory organization (100% owned by City of Prague) Established: November 1993 Staff: 60 employees
6 Key tasks of ROPID transport solution of PID system discussion of traffic solutions and their funding with subsidy providers and transport operators negotiation of contracts on provision of PID operation and supervision of their performance organization of financial flows of revenues and subsidies within PID system draft of tariff and fare within PID system, ticketing ensuring of a uniform PID information system
7 PID system organization The system has been established as a municipal transport association with ROPID placing orders with transport operators for transport services on behalf of subsidy providers. Services are ordered from operators based on contracts prepared by ROPID Customers ROPID - City of Prague - suburban municipalities - regional authority Transport operators (17)
8 Discussion of traffic solutions and their funding with subsidy providers and transport operators Partners are the following: City of Prague - Municipal Council - Deputy Mayor in charge of transport Principal plans for the next year are subject to discussion in connection with city budget preparations Districts of the City of Prague - 57 Municipalities in the vicinity of Prague Regional transport authority in the vicinity of Prague Subsidies - regional - from municipalities (Prague = region) Traffic solutions are discussed with transport operators in terms of technical feasibility.
9 Contracts for provision of transport services Regional budget Municipality budgets subsidy for basic transport services in suburban transport subsidy for other transport services (in urban transport for all services) Operators Fare Revenue
10 Contracts on ensuring of PID system 1. Tariff Agreement The subject of the Agreement is particularly the acceptance of a uniform tariff and PID tickets by all transport operators, authorization of Prague Public Transport Co. Inc. (DPP) to print and distribute tickets and to distribute income from revenues to transport operators. The key for the distribution of income from revenues is determined by ROPID. 2. Contract on provision of services for PID system The subject of the Contract are services provided by Prague Public Transport Co. Inc. (DPP) to other operators, particularly, allowing vehicles of other transport operators to access termini and stops of Prague Public Transport Co. Inc. (DPP) and use of other facilities owned by Prague Public Transport Co. Inc. (DPP) 3. Contract for provision of uniform ticket inspection on public transport routes operated within PID system Subject of the contract is the authorization of Prague Public Transport Co. Inc. (DPP) to perform uniform ticket inspection on vehicles of the relevant transport operator
