2 COLUSACOUNTY DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE JOSEPH J. DAMIANO AGRICULTURAL COMMISSIONER/SEALER OF WEIGHTS AND MEASURES 100 SUNRISE BLVD., SUITE F COLUSA, CA TO: Karen Ross, Secretary California Department of Food and Agriculture and the Honorable Board of Supervisors, Colusa County In accordance with the provisions of Section 2279 and 2272 of the California Food and Agricultural Code, I am pleased to submit the 2011 Colusa County Crop Report. This annual report presents statistical information on acreage, yield, and value of Colusa County s agricultural products. Agriculture continues to be Colusa County s major producing industry. The 2011 gross production for agriculture was $647,025,000. This was an increase of approximately 1% when compared to the 2010 value of $640,802,000 which was the second highest value on record. The value and diversity of Colusa County crops continues to grow. Colusa County growers export over 30 varieties of vegetable and flower seeds as well as rice, wild rice, plums, prunes, almonds, and beans to over 75 countries around the world. I must emphasize that the crop report figures show gross values only, and do not reflect a net return to the producer. I wish to express my sincere appreciation to everyone who contributed to this report. I also express appreciation to all of my staff, especially Mary Anne Azevedo, Assistant Agricultural Commissioner and Lee Ann Price, Account Clerk III, who compiled this report. I would also like to recognize Jon Richter for his 35 years of service to the Colusa County Agriculture Department. Jon started working for the Colusa County Agriculture Department in 1976 as an agricultural biologist. He was promoted to Deputy Commissioner/Sealer in 2002, and then to Assistant Commissioner/Sealer in Jon Richter retired in June of Jon is enjoying retirement with his wife Sherri and their family. He is also enjoying farming rice in the Maxwell area, and time at the coast. Respectfully submitted, Joseph J. Damiano Agricultural Commissioner
