4 Status of the Proposed Infrastructure Bill WHAT LIES AHEAD Secretary Chao recently stated that an infrastructure funding proposal will not come out until after Congress has addressed tax reform. The next step would be for the Administration, including USDOT, to work with the Hill on getting an infrastructure bill passed. WHAT WE ARE DOING AT FHWA We are looking for ways we can improve the project delivery process even without a statutory change. 4

5 Performance Based Approach MAP-21 laid out a framework for a more performance driven approach to the Federal Highway Program FAST Act continued the principles We see the transition through: Transportation Performance Management Risk Based Asset Management Plans Designing Concrete Pavements to Meet Performance Goals 5
