2 2 General A Computerized/software driven Servo Controlled Electro Mechanical Universal Testing Machine (UTM) of 50 kn is intended to be housed in Insulation laboratory and should be of twin column floor mounting model with sturdy load frames. UTM with extensometer shall have features to carry out Tensile strength & Elongation, Tensile modulus, compression test, Compression set test, compression modulus, flexural strength, flexural modulus, Load deflection, shear, peel properties for sheathing & insulation of cables, Fibre reinforced Plastic(FRP), Poly Urethane foam, rubber, insulating laminates, and variety of dielectric materials. The instrument shall meet the test standards IS 1998, IS 867, IS 1060, IS 2530,IS 2464, IS 4819, IS 9299, IEC 60554,IS 8570, IS 10810, IS 7888, IS 3400, IEC , BSEN , BSEN , ASTM D 790, ASTM D638, ASTM D 412 & ISO 527, IEC 61111, HD 626 S1 etc. The instrument shall facilitate mounting of an environmental chamber of external dimensions Height 710mm, width 355mm, depth 610mm along with its platform and frame. The platform is of dimensions: Height 25mm, width 405mm and depth- 1020mm. The machine should have the following features: 3 Instrument Computerized instrumentation to measure tensile load, elongation, compression load & displacement value, compression modulus, flexural strength, flexural modulus, Load deflection, shear, peel properties etc. shall be provided. Also there shall be facility to display record and retrieve the measured values. UTM shall be of twin column floor mounting model with sturdy load frames with horizontal clearance of minimum 410mm between the columns. There shall be facility to initialize the force and extension to zero point before commencement of any test. There shall be facility for mounting different load cells and clamping devices for tensile & elongation test, compression test, flexural strength test, shear test, peel test on materials like steel / aluminium wires, Optical fiber, variety of insulating materials etc.

3 There shall be provision of load cell inter changeability. There shall be facility to interface available temperature controller Solo-2 for conducting tests at in the temperature range of -70 C to 150 C. There shall be provision to easily fix the available platform and frame, mount & slide the available chamber on the frame for conducting tests at elevated temperature up to 150 C & subzero up to -70 C temperature. The available chamber dimension: Internal: Height -610mm; width-250mm; Depth-325mm. External: Height -710mm; width-355mm; Depth-610mm and The available platform dimensions: Height- 25mm; width- 405mm; Depth-1020mm. Safety Safety interlock for over load and upper & lower limit switches to ensure protection during test shall be provided. Instant motor braking system i.e. emergency stop control is to be provided. The instrument shall be fitted with fuse to take care of electrical spikes/surges. 4 Load measuring system Should comply to EN ISO 75001:2004, Class 0.5 ASTM E4 standards 5 Load cell capacity Load cells 0-500N & 0-50kN with built in overload capacity 6 Load cell accuracy and Class of machine ±0.5% of the load cells used and 0.5 as per IS 1828: Minimum load resolution (load cell specific) Maximum cross head travel (between eye and ends) Crosshead displacement resolution 1/ of capacity of the Load cell 1250mm mm 10 Crosshead speed range mm/minute 11 Crosshead speed range accuracy <0.2% at steady state

4 12 Maximum return speed 13 Software feature App. 1200mm/min Automatic selection of load in various scales i.e. N and kg is to be provided. Suitable software compatible with a Computer and latest Window OS is to be provided preloaded besides a soft copy of the software and OS. It shall realize the close loop control and show the reference curve during testing. It shall have the data processing facility for automatic / manual analysis of test results. There shall be provision for data storage facility and provision to conduct post test analysis and review of test results at a later date and facility to print graphical data or obtain graphical output at a later date. Provision to feed / set the test parameters for custom (user defined) test program within the limits of machine controls to meet various test standards of rubber, PVC, XLPE, PE, wires, etc. and to hold the load for stipulated duration of 1 minute to 5 minutes shall be provided. Different test control modes like displacement rate control, load rate control, strain rate control with facility to switch from one control mode to another control mode during testing shall be provided. Software shall cater to Tensile strength & Elongation, Tensile modulus, compression strength, Compression set test, compression modulus, flexural strength, flexural modulus, Load deflection, shear, peel properties for sheathing & insulation (PVC, XLPE, PE) of cables, FRP,PU foam, rubber, insulating laminates, variety of dielectric materials, Wood, Electrical grade paper, Insulating tapes, winding wires, Aluminium conductor etc.

5 14 Standard Accessories Standard accessories supplied along with basic machine shall be specified. 15 Accessories Cost of the accessories to be quoted separately for each items as optional (ah) a High precision Load cells of capacity 0-50N and N shall be given. b Wedge grips of capacity 50 kn with inserts to suit round specimens of dia. 4mm to 20mm & flat specimens of thickness up to 20mm shall be provided c Non corrosive compression test jigs of capacity 50kN with a pair of circular discs of diameter 100mm and square plates of edge 200mm shall be specified. Also, these jigs should be detachable with the sample in compressed condition to subject them to a temperature range of 250 ± 2 C for 168 hours (Reference IS 3400). It should be also possible to employ the same compression jig in non-detachable mode i.e. until the sample ruptures due to compressive force. d Suitable tensile jigs of capacity 5kN having removable support with the elongated dumbbell specimen at its middle portion to a specified limit shall be specified. Also, these supports should be able to sustain 43W/m² irradiance under light beam coming from a xenon-lamp with continuous luminous wavelength between 340 nm and 400 nm for 1000 hours, temperature range 70± 2 C to - (25 ± 2) C, RH 10% to 100% and distilled water sprinkling at flow rate of 15 to 25 dm³.h ¹. 6 e Flexural test/3 point bending/cross breaking test attachment of capacity 50kN should meet the requirements of ASTM D790, ISO 178 and IS1998. The attachment should include loading and supporting noses with provision to change rollers in both loading and supporting noses. The attachment/ jig should be able to meet a span length of 150mm. A pair of rollers for supporting noses of diameters 4mm, 6.4mm, 10mm & 16mm and two rollers for loading noses of diameter 6.4mm and 10mm is to be provided. f Test plates and needle as per Cl.5.5.2, Figure 1 of IEC (Cl and figure enclosed) shall be quoted. g Long travel extensometer suitable for rubber, Soft Polymer like PVC, XLPE & PE, wires of Range 10mm-600 mm and with resolution 0.005mm shall be quoted. h Container for liquid nitrogen (LN ₂) of capacity min.30l to max.50l (l-liters) with regulator and pressure gauge is to be provided. 16 Power supply available 230 V ac ±10% fluctuation, 50Hz, Single phase 17 Data interface Preferably through branded PC (Lenovo / Dell/ Compaq/HP/IBM) with Intel i7 processor, CPU processor 64 bit, 2.66GHz or higher, Intel mother board, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, 32X DVD RRw, USB, Keyboard & optical mouse, 18.5 Wide screen Monitor with LED backlight and printer with Intel High Definition Graphics and with 22ppm speed,1200dpi, 32MB RAM and USB port connectivity.

7 18 Literature Two set of user manuals, installation, operating & maintenance manuals and electric circuit diagram should be provided with the Facility. Preventive Maintenance procedure, checklist and schedule shall be parts of above documents. 19 Calibration Calibration certificate from the NABL Accredited laboratory shall be provided with the equipment or The Machine shall be calibrated after installation at CPRI for speed, load cells, for entire working range of load & temperature and the calibration certificate with NABL logo & uncertainty calculations shall be provided. 20 Installation, Commissioning & Training 21 Warranty The training is to be provided to the team of engineers at CPRI Bangalore free of cost after installation and commissioning at the identified location. Two year warranty should be provided from date of Installation. Free upgrade of the software s as per CPRI requirement for the entire warranty period should be provided 22 Delivery The delivery of the Facility is required to be made within 4 months from the date of the placement of supply order. Delivery should include Basic Machine with accessories as per the specifications & Service Manuals.

8 23 Miscellaneous Quotation should be strictly based on specifications. List of instruments supplied, installation details with contact information to be enclosed with the quotation. Maintenance facilities available including location, no. of trained personnel available, lead time to attend to breakdown calls and allied details is to be provided as an enclosure with the quotation. Essential spares for trouble free operation and maintenance for min.3 years should be furnished in optional. Certificate for being authorized dealer of OEM shall be provided at the time of quote. Authorized service provider of OEM should be available in Bangalore. 24 Note 1. Deviations if any from the specifications given above which provides improvement in the functioning of the equipment shall be clearly brought out with their advantages. 2. Any additional features other than the above may be brought out clearly 3. It is confirmed that the offer meets all the clauses in all respects OR The offer meets most of the clauses except for the deviation indicated in deviation statement.
