3 SPECIAL MARKETS UPDATES 1. CHINA The database has been approved and market opened for KOREA Lemons and soft citrus from SA are excluded from export in inspectors will arrive in SA around the 09 th April 2018 Estimated approval date for the Korea database is 16 th April 2018 Both inspectors will leave SA around the 12 th July last inspector will arrive around the 09 th July 2018 and depart on 07 th October 2018 Discussions between DAFF and industry on working arrangements from 09 th July JAPAN Navelates markings have been approved as from 2018 Japanese inspector will arrive in SA around the 08 th April

USA Access of non-cbs free areas for the EU market A bilateral meeting between South Africa and USA is scheduled for early INDONESIA Market was due to expire in April 2018 Extension to April Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) (Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyz and Kazakhstan) Consult regulation 157 for the amended phytosanitary import conditions which came into effect from July India Land based cold treatment still applicable 2 more trial were requested by India before the intransit treatment decision can be finalised. 4

21 ACTION PLAN FOR 2018 W.C Region Inspection applications to be ed Inspection will take place within 48 hours. To strengthen communication between exporter/agent with cold store Apply for consignments that are ready at cold store Pack house/exporter to consult PUC database for special markets Overtime requests shall be seriously looked at justification needed. Some consignments only shipped later. 21

22 ACTION PLAN FOR 2018 WC Region Cont.. Cold stores/inspection points to comply with inspection criteria. To be ready for the season. Inspections shall not commence if not ready. Inspection points to ensure adequate personnel as well as are trained in the procedures including the sampling. Requests for calibration and loading of containers for Thailand to be sent to the DAFF. New CBS RMS and the One Pagers are now available. NB: Northern Cape is recognized as CBS PFA by EU. Removal permits are not market specific but compulsory to all fruit coming from BD areas 22

23 ACTION PLAN FOR 2018 Cape Town Cont.. All cold stores that are handling citrus to the EU to be registered with DAFF visit DAFF website for application form. Tariffs: R212 per phyto R212 per half hour inspection official hours (07:30 16:00) R319 per half hour after 16:00 20:00 & Saturdays R425 per half hour Sundays and public holidays China, Japan and Korea 49c or 46c + R212 per half hour for overtime inspections 23
