7 Terminal Operations & IT Services

IT Service Demands IT services act as an integral part of operations Operational productivity relies heavily on information technology, that must be Highly reliable Capable of handling the peak load Fast in response Near zero down time Able to meet ever increasing throughput 8

Application Name MOS TBI Tariff and Billing application Function Modern Terminals Operation system Application List IBM Hardware EDI MTP SUNAC EMPAC MIS BIT BIW Gateway of data interchange with shipping lines Modern Terminals Portal provides service to shipping line for access to MTL data via internet Financial application, such as General Ledger, Account Payable and Receivable etc Facility Management, and Procurement etc. Management Information System HR System Business Information Warehouse HP & Sun SUN Alpha * This server consolidation project covers the applications in RED colour 9

Why Servers Consolidation? Because, High operating cost at low hardware performance Complicate infrastructure environment High overhead on system management High upgrade cost to support business growth 10

Objectives of Consolidation To remove platform constraints thus improve performance and service levels To achieve cost saving To move away from proprietary platform To accommodate business growth 11

Migration Challenges Skill acquisition for new server and storage Infrastructure Aggressive but achievable performance level The first time to use PRIMEPOWER in our mission-critical systems The first HK customer to use PRIMECluster with Oracle RAC 12

Why Fujitsu? High performance 100% Solaris Compliant Certified on Oracle RAC Assurance Plan Environmental friendly 13

Schedule Product selection Q Evaluate and 2 x POC. Tight implementation schedule for a total solution Q Server and Storage solution selection & procurement Q Delivery, Installation, UAT,SIT Q Project completion (Target) 14

How did We Achieve it? Competent & Hardworking Colleagues Teamwork 15 Success

The new server infrastructure PRIMEPOWER650 4 x 1.89GHz SPARC64V 16GB, 2 x 36GB U320 HDDs Solaris 9, Oracle 9iRAC PRIMECLUSTER 4.1 Enterprise Server Public LAN (10/100 Ethernet) Heartbeat (Gb Ethernet) Cisco 2950SX LTO2 LTO2 FC (2Gbps) Multi-mode Fibre FC (2Gbps) FC (2Gbps) Brocade 8-port FC Switch 2 LWL SFPs, 2 SWL SFPs Single-mode Fibre ETERNUS3000 M100 2 x Controller, 4 FC ports 2GB Cache, 10 x 73GB + 1 x 147GB FC HDDs < 500m Fibre Link Computer Room 1 Computer Room 2 16

New Server Platform to Drive Business Value Servers Consolidation (Consolidates 20 servers into 10 Fujitsu servers) Significant cost saving (32% over 6-years) Upgraded performance to support business growth More functions can be built into our Portal system ModernPorts.com Higher resource capacity to handle data processing surge, such as Month-end transactions 17

What have we gained? Cost effectiveness High capacity & scalability Performance boosted up by 300% Lower System Administration Overhead Most importantly USER SATISFACTION! 18

Challenges Ahead Continued throughput growth Multiple Terminals across China DR Site consideration 19
