2 COE PHASE-I Introduction: As per the budget speech delivered by The Hon ble Union Finance Minister, the following 6 ITIs were upgraded into Centers of Excellence, under Govt. of India assistance. ITI, Hubli Automobile Training: During , 100 trainees were admitted in each sector and already they have completed the All India Trade Test under BBBT. During , 100 trainees were admitted in each sector. Under Advanced Module an average of 90 trainees per ITI completed training and appeared for the All India Trade Test. Specialized modules have commenced from April 2007 and the trainees are undergoing in-plant training in various industries as per the guidelines. Graded exercises are standardized. Bridge course organized. Training of Trainers: The following training programmers are conducted for trainers (JTOs) under COE. CNC Turn Mill Training at Apex Hi-Tech, Bangalore-22. Auto CAD-2007 and Invertor-II, at Apex Hi-Tech, Bangalore-22. CNC training at NTTF, Dharwad. Training at NTTF, Bangalore through CII, Bangalore. For Advanced Module Training, trainers and trainees have been deputed for training in institutes like GTTC, Hassan, Small Industries Service Institute (SISI), GOI, Bangalore and also private institutes like Kohinoor Institute, Gulbarga, M/s. VRL, Hubli, M/s. Hilcal Magnetics, Bangalore, M/s Mallikarjuna Motors, Davangere Tools and Equipment:

3 Computers and furniture are supplied to all 6 ITIs. Tools and Equipments are supplied for BBBT as per DGE&T Curriculum. Procurement of Tools & Equipments for Advanced Modules is processed. Civil works: A separate COE block building will be constructed in all the 6 COE ITIs. DET has initiated the following activities: Expenditure for each ITI has been estimated at Rs. 149 lakhs. M/s. Karnataka Land Army Corporation, Bangalore will be the project management consultant to supervise, execute and Certifying Bills and all tendering process. This has been approved by the Government and the GO has been issued. DET in association with chief architect PWD, Bangalore has drawn up a common plan for the construction of COE blocks. In respect of ITI, Hassan, the construction of CoE block is already taken-up by the PWD under their funds (Rs. 125 lakhs is released). A tender notification for construction of COE blocks in 5 ITIs has been issued and published in leading newspapers. The last date for receiving the completed tender document is

ITI, Raichur Electrical Progress under Phase II: In each ITI 100 trainees are admitted under BBBT. Detailed project report is already sent to DGET. G.O for constitution of IMCs in 5 of the 6 COE ITIs has been received. The G.O for constitution of IMC in the Govt. ITI, Bellary is awaited. The tripartite MoU between the Govt. of India, Govt. of Karnataka and World Bank has been signed by the Govt. of Karnataka. It has been further forwarded to the Govt. of India and response awaited. Training: During , 100 trainees were admitted in each sector. Trainers have been trained on the use of Internet facility. Graded exercises are standardized. Bridge course organized. Training of Trainers: The following training programmers are conducted for trainers (JTOs) under COE. Under BBBT trainers and trainees are deputed for training in private organizations such as M/s Mallikarjuna Motors, Davangere. A G.O. to depute trainers to DGET training institutes has been issued. A proposal has been sent to the Govt. of Karnataka to depute trainers to reputed private training centers. The G.O. for the same is awaited Tools and Equipment: Computers and furniture have been supplied to all COE ITIs. Internet facility has been provided to all COE ITIs Basic requirement of Tools and Equipments have been provided for all ITIs. The tender process for the procurement of major machineries & equipments, for both BBBT and Advanced Modules, is being processed.

7 Civil works: A separate COE block building will be constructed in all the 6 COE ITIs. DET has initiated the following activities: DET in association with chief architect PWD, Bangalore has drawn up a common plan for the construction of COE blocks. A request has been sent to each of the PWD executive engineers of the concerned districts, requesting them to provide the estimation for the corresponding COE blocks. 8 BUILDING NORMS FOR COE ITIs 1. SECTOR: Electrical Space Norms Broad Based Basic Training(BBBT) Class rooms: 3 nos. Size: 30Sq.mt each. Workshops: 60 sq. mt for each basic module (except for ECBT-1 & ECBT-4 where space required is 80 sq mt.) NOTE: Some flexibility from sq mt/75-80 sq mt area for workshop and sq mt area for class room area. 2. SECTOR: Production & Manufacturing Class rooms: 3 nos. Size: 30 sq.mt each Workshops: 80 sq.mt for each basic module(except for ECBT-1 & ECBT-4 where space required is 80 sq.mt.) NOTE: Some flexibility i.e, from sq.mt area for workshop & sq.mt area for classroom area is proposed to be provided. 3. SECTOR: Automobile Class rooms: 3 nos. Size: 30 sq.mt each Workshops: 80 sq.mt for each basic module from ABT-1 TO ABT-6 additional necessary space for vehicles may be provided ABT-05 & ABT-06. NOTE: Some flexibility i.e, from sq.mt area for workshop & sq.mt. area for class room are proposed to be provided.

9 TRAINING NORMS FOR COE ITIs Eligibility: 10th pass under 10+2 system. Batch size: 96 trainees 16 in each module (20% supernumeries be allowed to take care of dropouts as already exist under CTS). Admission: For basic Training admission are to be made in August/February in each year.

10 IMPACT OF CoE Construction of 4 class rooms at ITI, Peenya is approved and budget is released. M/s. Toyota Kirloskar Motor Company, Bidadi agreed to set up Toyota Technical Education programme (T-TEP) at ITI, Peenya, Bangalore-22 in Automobile Trade. M/s. VETASSES, Melbourne, Australia has agreed in principle to start Assessment Training Centre at ITI, Peenya, Bangalore-22 to facilitate ITI trainees to seek employment in Australia. The Director(Emigration), Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs, GOI has released Rs lakhs as advance to DET, Bangalore to implement the scheme of orientation cum training programme for overseas Indian workers. STARC a nodal agency to train trainers is established at ITI, Malavalli The following new schemes are sanctioned during The manpower development corporation to look after pre departure training for the workers going abroad. Budget provision Rs. 100 lakhs is allotted to improve the skills of unorganized workers. 10 new Govt. ITIs in most backward taluks and 8 new Govt. women ITIs. To introduce student centric grant in aid scheme for unaid ed ITIs. To introduce motor driving and training schools in existing ITIs. Formation of Karanataka Vocational Training Corporation.
