2 The Steam Generator System P12200 consists of two 60-hp steam generators, a 25-kW generator, a heating coil, an ancillary basket with all the necessary ancillary equipment, a water treatment skid package, a tool box, and a shipping container. The two 60-hp steam generators can be operated independently or simultaneously. When operated simultaneously they produce 120-hp steam. The steam generators and support equipment can all be removed from the shipping container and operated independently. Each component weighs less than 4000 pounds and is designed to be air lifted to a stricken vessel. Recovery and pumping operations often require the heating of highly viscous product. The SUPSALV skimmers have offloading pumps that can remove recovered product from the skimmer storage tanks in most cases. However, if the product is very viscous it must be heated to remove it. The pumping of very viscous product during lightering operations may also require the heating of the product. The steam generator system provides the steam heat required in cold weather operations for oil-water separation, for lightering vessels, and for cleaning equipment used at a spill site. 11 ESSM - GE0440 GENERATOR, 25-KW, DSL, MODEL CI4J kW Diesel Generator GE0440 The 25-kW Diesel Generator GE0440 is a self-contained unit, mounted on a rugged steel base with an integral fuel tank and enclosed in a weather-resistant, sound-attenuated steel enclosure. All generator and engine controls and instrumentation are mounted on tilt-out, hinged panels, which are visible through a safety glass window during operation of the generator. Access to the generator and engine is provided through hinged doors. Forklift slots penetrate the width of the base for ease of transportation and handling. Four base tie-down points are installed for securing the unit during transportation, and a center-point lifting point is provided for overhead lifting. The generator supplies 220-volt, three-phase or single-phase power to the power distribution system. Power is distributed via four main 220-volt, three-phase distribution terminals; a 240-volt, three-phase temporary power receptacle; two 120/240-volt, single phase, marine, twist-lock, temporary power receptacles; and two 120-volt, single phase ground fault interrupter (GFI) receptacles. 13 ESSM - SG0010 STEAM GENERATOR, 60-HP Steam Generator SG0010 The Steam Generator SG0010 is a water-in-tube boiler and will deliver its rated output of 99% quality steam (containing less than 1% moisture) per hour from 60 F feedwater. The generator will develop its full rated pressure within five minutes from a cold start. The generator features a continuous circulating water feed system with a constant capacity pump which ensures a wet tube in the generator unit at all times. Automatic controls regulate the feedwater rate and modulate or stop the burner in accordance with steam demand. Standard equipment includes safety devices for protection against water failure, excessive pressure, and electrical overload. The steam generator is used during oil spill recovery operations. Pumping of viscous product is common during recovery operations. If the product is very viscous it must be heated to remove it from skimmer storage tanks. Heating of product is also required during lightering operations. Steam heat is also required for the Oil/Water Separation System P12100 to operate properly in cold weather and for cleaning operations. 19 ESSM - SG0015 WATER TREATMENT SKID PACKAGE, 120-HP CAPACITY 120-Hp Water Treatment Skid Package SG0015 The 120-Hp Capacity Water Treatment Skid Package SG0015 contains on one skid all the components necessary to chemically treat the steam generators feedwater. The skid contains the receiver, softeners, chemical pumps, blowdown tank, control box, and booster pump(s). Water system control and monitoring are required on any boiler or steam generator to protect it against corrosion and scaling. Due to the compact nature of the Clayton Steam Generator, the water must be continually treated and regularly monitored. Daily testing is recommended to assure normal functioning of all components. The automatic operation of the SG0015 Water Treatment Skid Package makes operational and maintenance efforts minimal.
