Brief Introduction: This meter can test ph, mv and temperature in water solution, it is suitable used in lab for those units from industrial and mining enterprises, university and scientific research organ etc. There is a microprocessor chip inside the meter and the appearance of meter looks nice with easily operation. For notable features read as follows: Large LCD with blue background can display both ph and temperature value at the same time. It has intelligent functions for automatic calibration, automatic temperature compensation, data storage / recall and memory max. and min. value etc. Automatically display the percentage of slope after finishing calibration. There are two series ph buffer data inside the microprocessor, it can be selected according to requirements (see item 6.2.). and can be switched freely. Equips ph plastic combination electrode and calibration buffer solution to make use to be much easier. 2

Temperature measuring value and unit 5. Storage and recall, max. and min value 3.2. Operation Keys: Switch and calibration button (a) Short-time press (time<1.5s) to switch the meter. (b) Depress (time >2s), meter to do calibration automatically When in ph mode, press the key to alter the resolution: pH; Increase and decrease key. When in MTC state, press the key to increase or decrease the temperature value. Short-time press to alter 0.1 each time, while depress, the temperature will alter rapidly Switch button for ph and mv Max/min button is used for max. or min. value recording, displaying or exiting function Storage and recall button which be used for memory and recall display 4

6 function Socket: ph/mv socket when measuring ph, it is used for connecting the ph connector of 201-C plastic ph combination electrode, and when measuring mv, it is used for connecting ORP electrode or various ion selective electrodes (pay attention to electrode connector should be BNC connector), and twist on the short-circuit protection cap for keeping the socket clean after finishing measurement Temperature socket connecting PHT temperature electrode. And meter is keeping in automatically temperature compensation states and can test the temperature of solution when connecting temperature electrode; when removing the temperature electrode off, meter is in the manual temperature compensation states, and user can adjust temperature value by pressing or button Reference socket be used for connecting reference electrode when using non-combination ph or ion electrode DC9V power connector be used for connecting DC9V power adapter. 4. Using Method: 4.1. ph Test: The power is ready, press button to electrify the meter Twist off the short-circuit protection cap, insert the two connectors which on the ph/atc electrode into ph and temperature sockets, stir electrode in the pure water and dry it out Fixed position calibration: Insert ph electrode into ph7.00 buffer solution, still it after slightly stirring, when it display stably, depress the button, and release it until there show on the LCD and there will show ph 7.00 at that time, after several seconds, the LCD display icon, stable ph calibration value and temperature value (the ph value will be different along with temperature, such as it shows 7.00 at 25 and 7.04 at 15, these values have been set in the chip), 5

7 means that calibration has been finished and the data has been memory Slope calibrationⅠ: Take out ph electrode, wash it with pure water and dry, then insert it into ph4.00 buffer solution, still it after slightly stirring, and after the measuring value to be stable, depress button and release it when there show on the LCD, then it display 4.00 and after several seconds it displays, stable ph calibrated and temperature value. And it indicates that calibration is completed and just recalling by microchip. It will display automatically the slope percentage of electrode at this line stage Slope calibration Ⅱ: Take out ph electrode, wash it with pure water and dry, then insert it into ph10.01 buffer solution, still it after slightly stirring, and after the measuring value to be stable, depress button and release it when there show on the LCD, then it display and after several seconds it displays, stable ph calibrated and temperature value. And it indicates that calibration is completed and just recalling by microchip. It will display automatically the slope percentage of electrode at this line stage Sample test: Insert the ph electrode into the sample after washing, still it after stirring, and read when it shows stably ph value. Note: (a) When the temperature of sample solution is more close to the calibration solution, the accuracy will be much higher. This is equal temperature measuring principle for ph measurement. (b) When the meter calibration or display abnormal, please long press the button until the meter issued a "di" sound and then release it. Then make the calibration again and the meter will be OK Introduction: There is an intelligent single chip inside the meter, and user can choose one point, two points and three points automatically calibration, it only needs calibrate with ph7.00 buffer solution for one point calibration if the measuring accuracy ±0.1pH. If the measuring range is only in acidic range (ph<7.00), can do calibration with ph7.00 and ph4.00; If the measuring range is only in the alkali range (ph>7.00), can do calibration with ph7.00 and ph10.01; 6

8 user should choose 3 points calibration if the measuring range is wide or ph electrode is aged for has been using for a long time, it will improve measuring accuracy. But when the electrode being used at the first time, it must be calibrated with 3 points to adjust the slope of meter in accordance with ph electrode. Special Notice: We suggest you do not operate with electrode holder if using ph/atc tri-combination electrode. It will be much simpler and more reliable to directly insert electrode into container (then reading after fully stirring). If user wants to use plastic electrode and put it into the electrode clip, we suggest the protection cap should be twisted off during measuring, and shake the buffer solution s container, because of the compartment of protection cap and bulb will cause bad connection between solution and bulb to make electrode response unstable, but pay attention to the bulb won t be damaged at this time mv Test: Press button, and switch meter to mv unit Connecting ORP electrode or ion electrode (need to be extra equipped) and insert it into sample solution, still after slightly stirring then reading till it display stable value which is ORP value or potential value of this ion electrode Other Operational Items: Max /min function: (a) Entrance: press button for a few seconds; release it till there display MAX and MIN on the LCD that means the meter has entered into this max. and min. program. (b) Display: short press button after measuring a batch of data, then the LCD will show alternatively the max and min during this period, again short press button, meter restore to measuring record mold. (c) Exit: press button for a few seconds; release it till MAX and MIN disappearing on the LCD that means the meter has exited this program Storage/ Recall function: (a) Storage: If user need store any values during measuring, only need to press button, then there will show symbol STORE and storage number ( ) 7

9 which means this value has been stored under this catalog number, and will return normal model right away, this meter can store 25 measuring values, and the first measuring value will be revised if it exceeds 25 number. (b) Recall: Press button for a few seconds, release it until there show RECALL symbol and storage number, the measuring value on the LCD is the last storage number and measuring value, again press the button, it can display ordinal storage number and measuring value. (c) Exit: depress button for a few seconds, release it till there showing RECALL symbol on the LCD that means it has exited the RECALL program. (d) Clear up: Press the and at the same time in the state of RECALL, then all of measuring value can be eliminated. 5. Considerations: 5.1. Calibration times of meter rely on the sample, electrode performance and required accuracy. For high accurate measurement ( ±0.02pH), which should be calibrated immediately with standard buffer solution, for general accuracy measuring ( ±0.1pH), which can be used almost one week even longer once be calibrated. However, the meter must be renew calibrated in the following situation: (a) New electrode and unused for a long time. (b) After measuring acid (ph<2) or alkaline (ph>12) solution. (c) After measuring solution contains fluoride and concentrated organic solution. (d) The solution s temperature is much different with calibration temperature There are some soaking solution in the protection bottle in front of ph electrode, the electrode head has been soaked into it for keeping the glass bulb and junction s activation. Twist off the cap when measuring and expose the electrode then wash it with pure water. After using, insert the electrode in and twist the cap on. Once found there are some thickness or going moldy in the protection bottle, then the soaking solution should be replaced immediately Preparation of the electrode soaking solution: take 25g analytical pure KCL, which need be dissolved in 100mL pure water stir till dissolved completely. The electrode 8

10 should be avoid soaking into the pure water, protein solution and acid fluoride solution for a long time, and protect it do not touch with organic silicon lipid When calibrating meter by using known ph standard buffer solution, in order to improve the measuring accuracy, the ph value of buffer solution should be reliable. The buffer solution should be changed in time after frequently use Keeping electrode clean and dry, especially note that keep meter and connector s high clean and dry, otherwise, it will cause the inaccurate measuring or invalidation. If the electrode is dirty, can clean it with cotton and alcohol, then blow it dry The sensitive glass bulb in front of combination electrode should not be touched with hard things, any broken and hair will make the electrode invalidity. Before and after measuring, the electrode should be washed with pure water for guaranteeing the accuracy of measuring. The electrode should be washed many times for removing the sample stuck on the electrode after measuring sticky sample An electrode be used for a long time, or measured solution which contains a polluting solute easily for the sensitive bulb, or a substance resulting in jam at the junction, the electrode will be getting passivation, its sensitivity grade will decrease and its response is getting slow, the reading are not correct. It could adopt the following method for various cases: (a) The glass bulb is contaminated and aging: put the electrode into a 0.1mol/L diluted hydrochloric acid (Preparation: diluted 9mL hydrochloric acid with pure water into 1000mL) for 24 hours. Rinse it with pure water, then dipped it into the electrode dipping solution for 24 hours. If it is serious passivation, put the end of electrode into 4%HF (hydrofluoric acid) for 3 to 5 seconds (Solution s preparation: diluted 4ml hydrofluoric acid with pure water into 100mL, note that operation should in ventilate cabinet), rinsing it with pure water, then dipped it in the electrode soaking solution for 24 hours to renew its performance. (b) Clean for contaminated glass bulb and junction:(for reference) Contamination abluent Inorganic metal oxide dilute acid (<1mol/L) Organic Lipidic dilute washing Resinic macromolecule s dilute alcohol, ether 9

11 Proteinic haematocyte sediment acidic enzymatic solution (such as dried yeast) Kinds of paint dilute bleacher, peroxide The material of electrode housing is poly-carbonate. Please pay attention when selecting the abluent, user should carefully using tetrachloro-methane, trichloroethylene, tetrahydrofuran. Because these reagents will dissolve poly-carbonate which lead to the electrode invalidation There are 3 bottles of ph calibration solution (ph4.00, ph7.00 and ph10.01 each of bottle) in the accessories. They are including the antiseptic inside in the three different buffer solution, so they can be stored for a long time under the environment temperature (warrant is 1 year) Electrode using period is about one year, but it will be shorten if using condition is bad, or the maintenance is incorrect. And user should replace a new electrode in time when the electrode is aging or invalidation. The microprocessor inside the meter has the function of inspecting electrode slope automatically (details see and 4.1.5). If the slope is less than 85% (depend on measuring accuracy and range as well as accurate buffer solution), then user should consider performing the electrode activation, or replace a new electrode. 6. When user need to change the buffer series, can put electrode into ph6.86 or 7.00, and press or button immediately, then the series of buffer solution will be changed. When number stop flashing means ph buffer solution has been finished adjusting. The ph7.00 series of ph buffer solution has been set when this meter being 10

12 sold out of factory, please do not adjust it freely to avoid using improper series to make the calibration of meter to be wrong Please check if the series of buffer solution is correct when found the error is big when using, otherwise please adjust it according to item Meter s Complete Kit: 7.1.
